Celebs will often try just about anything to look young and beautiful -- but definitely not "cute" according to one actress.
Following a myriad of hairstyles, Hayden Panettiere has cut off the long, blonde locks she was famous for and debuted a super-short cropped hairstyle. But this isn't her first effort to appear more grown up.
Panettiere's first rebellious act to shed her cutesy image came earlier this year when the 21-year-old dyed her hair red. When asked why, she told Us Magazine, "Because I could!"
The "Heroes" star went on to explain, "I'm typically a very fiery person anyway, but I just feel like cute and blonde and little is just so one category and one thing and changing my hair color, I feel like I don't have to overcompensate so much for the fact that I don't like being called cute or anything like that -- especially being all 5-foot-2 of me."
Then, a few months later, her strands were back to blonde.
But the Hollywood hair chameleon has switched it up again. With her boxer boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko by her side, Panettiere showed up at the Global Home Tree Earth Day reception hosted by "Avatar" Director James Cameron in Los Angeles, California yesterday sporting a new cropped hairdo. Chopped off and in a darker, blonde hue, her hair was slicked back into an ultra-chic style -- sideburns and all.
What's next for the young star's ever-changing style? There's no telling. Yet, one thing's for sure, the actress may be petite, but her hair looks are definitely major. "Even though I'm small, I can dish it out, too," Panettiere reminds us.
What do you think of Panettiere's new hairstyle? Do you prefer her with longer, blonde locks or a short and sleek 'do?
