In fact, no woman in her 20s appears on the list, which counts legendary beauties like Catherine Deneuve, 66, Helen Mirren, 64, and Sophia Loren, 75, among its top 10.
A spokesperson for UK clothing company Wizard Jeans, for whom the chart was compiled, told the Daily Mail, "Women like Beyoncé ... are sexy and pretty but real beauty is something that comes from within and usually requires maturity. The days when women were considered past it at 40 are long gone."
Indeed, the top 10 also includes 49-year-old actress Kristin Scott Thomas in the No. 3 spot, 39-year-old supermodel Claudia Schiffer at No. 2, and 36-year-old Oscar winner Penélope Cruz at No. 1.
"There is no question in my mind that Penélope Cruz is a worthy winner," says fashion expert Sally Allen, who compiled the list by monitoring press clippings and footage, then showing the results to 1,200 men for a second opinion.
"She was an undoubtedly pretty girl when she started her acting career at 16 but, 20 years later, she has matured into a particularly beautiful woman and a fine actress.
"As someone once said, the difference between pretty and beautiful is that pretty is temporal, whereas beautiful is eternal."
StyleList completely agrees, but wonders why 88-year-old It Girl Betty White didn't make the countdown.
Speaking of White, check out how her look has evolved over the years.
