If you don't leave home without your Spanx as underwear, just wait 'til you check out the shapewear line's new collection of outerwear.

On Top and In Control, which launches on Spanx.com tomorrow, features a collection of tops meant to be worn alone or as layering pieces.

"I was inspired to make classic tops women can wear every day with invisible shaping built inside," Spanx founder Sara Blakely tells StyleList.

"Made from the yummiest yarns we could find, On Top and In Control comfortably contours your shape and looks great with everything from pencil skirts and heels to jeans and flats.

"As a new mom on the go, I'm all for anything that easily and comfortably gives me extra control and added style."

The line's nine styles -- including a three-quarter-sleeve bateau, and long-sleeve and sleeveless V-necks, crewnecks, turtlenecks, and tanks -- will come in neutrals such as black, gold, and white, with more colors being added for fall. Prices range from $68 to $118, and pieces will ship June 14.

"On Top has a luxurious, matte finish with a hint of shine," the Spanx catalog says. "Don't let the softness fool you -- these tops have hidden shaping zones that will contour your body into a beautiful silhouette."

Founder Sara Blakely launched Spanx in 2000 with footless pantyhose, and the line soon grew to include everything from control-top fishnets to body shapers to maternity hose to swimwear to compression undershirts for men.

With that extra help sucking things in, go ahead and swap that nonfat milk for whole in your Frappuccino -- and then check out more new shapewear trends for 2010. In fact, we'll take whipped cream with that!

and the pictures of these size 0 women are a real representation of the women who will purchase and buy this item of clothing.

I agree with you. They never put us true to life women in the pictures displaying the control top, girdles, spanx what ever. It is always women who are thin and shapely already who have nothing what so ever to control. And yes if those that are size 8 may have something to squeeze into a spanx, then they need to show those women too. I want to see women with the extra in something that is said to smooth and control me, so I know what the heck it will actually look like when I try it. It's hard to gauge where your extra rolls are going to go if the woman showing it off in the add is svelt to begin with.

this line of clothing/lingerie are ridiculously overpriced and the quality is cheap,,, after washing my spanx twice (by hand) the product developed holes along the waistband,,, i would not reccomend spending the money on such shodily made garments (p.s. i am a size 8 so please don't insinuate it was my large body that caused the material to wear,,, not that i'm saying anything derrogatory about larger women, it's just that i am certain the smart asses on these boards will try to criticize my comment)

Well Louise, they could have put YOUR pic in there, but they don't make these in size 22.

Dunk is an idiot. I agree with Louise...when I first saw the pictures, the women look skeletal. I do not think that is attractive (and I'm a Size 8 also)

No offense, people, but you see those women up there in that picture? That is what you are SUPPOSED to look like. Being a size in the teens is unhealthy and it's NOT the norm, even if most Americans are fat and lazy these days.

Get off your asses.

Oh, and P.S.
This does not apply to those who CAN'T lose weight, only those who DO NOT.

Truth, I am a size 6 and hardly consider myself fat or lazy. But I DO wear Spanx to smooth my midriff area that simply doesn't look like it did when I was 22. I've had three children, and I'm 48 years old. I am not SUPPOSED to look like those women in the picture. I haven't had breast implants and I eat a healthy diet, unlike so many in the modeling industry. If you think the rest of us should look like those photo shopped women, you're on another planet.

WHY? would those models wear anything to slim them down and hid bulges. They are models and wear size zero probably.
It would be better to show people who actually need body control wear.
Another example of advertising gone awry.

Size one models and then airburshed to make them look even skinnier? These girls don't need spanx, they need to eat something. My girlfriend wears spanx, they make her look nice. On these skinny chicks they just look sort of wierd

Truth - Are you that dumb? And you would really think all women should be a size less than in the teens? Can you imagine what a 5'11" female would look like if she were to be a size 8 or such? This would be unhealthy.

Doesn't it make you wonder how and why the Spanx brand is receiving FREE advertising in the form of this article?

Truth and Dunk are quite a pair. Probably two guys who can't get ANY woman let alone one that is petite.
Spanx DO come in plus sizes (duh) and while they won't make a size 22 look like a size 2, they do smooth out one's body shape which makes one's clothes fit better.
They're not going to create a miracle.
They ARE pretty cheap and they do fall apart much easier than I would have thought. I put a run (like a pantyhose run) in the pair I had. At the ridiculously high price, I'll look for an off brand.

I have purchased a similar item at Target that I love and was recommended by my bestie. She said she saw on oprah that this manufacturer made a more "price conscience" version to be sold at target. We both use these. At 5'6" I am a size 12, work out everyday, and eat healthy. There are some things that don't change after you've had c-sections. Having lost 75 pounds so far, I am feeling pretty good about myself. However, I did it for myself. NOT for anyone else, and I know that my daughters can respect that much more than someone who lives chained to a scale so she can get the next acting/ or modeling job. Be who you are! Eat what makes you feel healthy! Be encouraged that beauty starts on the INSIDE!

momof4 - If you workout everyday and eat right, as you claim, you shouldn't be a size 12; something is wrong. Although you have given birth many times, you still shouldn't be that large. You may want to consult a doctor.

If you want to use something similar, I am with momof4...save yourself $100 and go to target. They have tanks that work just as well as spanks and in a whole range of colors/prints. If you are a fan of layering anyway, why not use these tanks to enhance. And for those "men" in here...I know pageant girls who have competed at national pageants and wear spanks. They are not just for heavy women...

Did you know that every purchase made on Amazon.com is tracked and made part of your profile.... CAN NOT BE DELETED. They make suggestions for next purchase based on what you buy. So I got this adult toy for my wife. Then I was showing mom Amazon and to my amazement, Amazon suggested I but this big ugly thing too... Mom loved that, I did too!... So I tried to fix this and find it can't be corrected. I can't find contact info for Amazon.... I will never buy another thing from Amazon.com!

As a not-quite plus sized girl (8-10) - I still would prefer to know what the "new" Spanks look like on girls who are a little bit self-conscious about their figures - isn't that the target buyer? Don't we want to know if there's an above-the-waistband bulge? Or a below-the-thigh-band bulge? If you want smooth lines, those are the things you're looking for in an undergarment - not to look like a size 0 or 2. The models just don't seem like Spanks is a priority product to them.

I just went to the Spanx website to check this out. $98 or more for one of these tops? Really? If this company was in tune with the average woman, they would make these more affordable/realistically priced. I wanted to purchase several to wear under my scrub tops, but there's no way I can even afford one. There are similar items at Target and Kohl's. That's where my shopping will be done.
