An employee of the Marc Jacobs store on Mercer Street in New York City's SoHo called police when she received a package containing a white powder she mistook for anthrax. But it turns out the mystery parcel -- sent from California -- contained cocaine.
The FBI was called but decided to leave the case in the hands of the NYPD, which took the unidentified employee in for questioning.
"It appears to have been a huge mix-up," a source tells the New York Post.
"The girl has no idea why she was sent it. The cops are looking into whether it was intended for someone else in the building. But she was not happy with how she was treated by the police and is considering filing charges."
Jacobs himself has battled drug addiction in the past, having been in rehab most recently in 2007.
In more, er, uplifting news, Marc Jacobs was the only fashion designer on the 2010 Time 100 Most Influential People list.
