"Latin style is festive, and it celebrates the body," Cuban model and TV personality Daisy Fuentes told StyleList. "Latin women are not afraid to show their best assets, and they're not afraid to be festive, to wear color, and to be coquettish. Latin women are sexy women, and they're not afraid to put that out there."
Fuentes, who was wearing a dress by American designer David Meister and footwear by Giuseppe Zanotti, admitted that shoes were some of her favorite things in her wardrobe. "I love Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik. But some of my favorites are things from my own line [for Kohl's] that I've got in my closet, mixed in with high-end designers. Every time I see my very affordable little designs mixed in with some amazing designers in my own closet, it makes me very proud."
Dominican model and "X-Men" movie franchise actress Omahyra Mota said for her, Spanish style meant "flowers, beads, fashion. Summer means little shorts for me -- I have a bunch of them in all colors!"
Reigning Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez defined Latin style as "very fancy, very retro, and very elegant." She wore Bebe shoes and earrings, and an off-the-shoulder dress based on the packet design of Orbit gum, a sponsor of the evening.
Asked why her country was so famous for its beauty queens, former Miss Venezuela Fernandez replied, "We work with the Miss Venezuela organization, and they give you many classes, like English class, makeup class, oratory class. It's a lot of work for a year!"
