Pellevé, a new, non-invasive, FDA-approved skin tightening treatment, provides partial results instantly and, says Dr. Eddie Fincher, a Beverly Hills-based dermatologist, "it's a no downtime procedure."
Translation: You can head to your son's soccer game immediately following the hour-long treatment sans bruises, bandages or redness.
The way it works: Pellevé heats the deepest layers of the skin causing the skin's collagen to contract and tighten. Following the treatment, the skin produces new collagen, resulting in a firmer, more taut appearance. Most patients see an immediate improvement after one treatment, but full results take up to two months to appear.
Heat used for skin enhancement is nothing new (several other in-office procedures use heat), but says Fincher, "Many devices fail to go deep enough to get the job done adequately. Pellevé heats the deeper portions of the skin, where the collagen is, using radiowave technology."
Fincher notes two treatments should keep you firm for up to 2 years, with a single procedure costing anywhere from $500 to $1500.
Add up all the age-defying creams, serums and scrubs you purchased over the past two years and Pellevé may just be a solid choice.
