A little black dress goes a long way.

The iconic black Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" has been named the best female screen outfit of all time in a new poll by Lovefilm, the Mirror reports.

"Audrey Hepburn has truly made that little black dress a fashion staple which has stood the test of time despite competition from some of the most stylish females around," Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley told the paper of the poll, which coincides with the release of "Sex and the City 2."

Keira Knightley's slinky emerald green dress from "Atonement" snagged the #2 spot, while Marilyn Monroe's white halter-neck from "The Seven Year Itch" came in third, according to the paper.

Rounding out the top five where Ursula Andress' white bikini from "Dr. No" and Kate Hudson's buttery-gold gown from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days."

Hepburn was a double winner in the poll, with her white horse racing ensemble from "My Fair Lady" reportedly clinching the sixth-place spot.

Olivia Newton-John's sexy leggings from "Grease," Raquel Welch's cavewoman-chic leather and fur two-piece from "One Million Years B.C.," Nicole Kidman's "Moulin Rouge" corset and Sarah Jessica Parker's Vivienne Westwood wedding gown from the first "Sex and the City" film also made the top 10.

But stay tuned, gals. We have a feeling "SATC 2" might be giving these gowns a run for their money.

Meanwhile, see which films were named the most fashionable.

How can they not list Vivien Leigh's wardrobe from Gone With The Wind? I ask you.

Kate Hudson???? That automatically nulls & voids
the credibility of the list! How in the world did THAT
make the list, but Marilyn Monroe's pink gown from
"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", did not??? I think either
of Marilyn's outfits should have been in the number 1
spot. Who concocted this list.....the same folks who
voted in the A I finale?

Laura, I too am greatly disappointed that Scarlet O'Hara's green velvet dress didn't make the list for two reasons. First, the obvious one, it was absolutely gorgeous. Second, and I think more important was the fact that even though she was broke at that time, her eyeing the drapes and seeing something shows innovation in fashion even during the toughest of times. However, after reading Thrill's comments I seeing the valid point this list really doesn't offer much creditability especially with listing Kate Hudson. Yup, null and void!

What about the blue dress Bullock wore in Miss Congeniality? Half of America dropped their jaws when she walked out of the hangar.

Typical guy response. It was tight and short.(read slutty) I don't think that is the criteria for "classy" or "iconic".

I totally agree with Audrey's "Breakfast at Tiffanys" little black dress, but I really think the suit and hat that Ingrid Bergman wore in the farewell scene in "Casablanca" should surely have been recognized in the top five!

What about Grace Kelly's black and white dress from "Rear Window"???? That dress could be worn today and would still be amazing!

I was just about to say the same thing. I recently saw Rear Window at school, and I couldn't get over Grace Kelly's outfit. It was gorgeous!

I cannot believe that people actually spend their time dreaming up "awards" for ridiculous things that don't amount to a hill of beans. Boy,these Hollywood types just love patting themselves on the back and giving themselves awards. Pretty soon, there will be more award shows than anything else. Talk about a bunch of needy people. There is the world of Hollywood and then there is the real world. Get a grip.

Holy crap! Never mind it's a trivial contest in the first place. But if you're going to rank "iconic" movie outfits and not even MENTION Bette Davis' off-the-shoulders party gown from All About Eve, why even bother? Bikinis, leggings...seriously?

I agree with Audrey as a first choice, but iconic dresses should be wore by iconic woman scarlet O'Hara -from Gone with the wind , Elisabeth Taylor or marilyn Monroe yes, Kiera Knightley also elegant beautiful as today young actress!! But Kate Hudson!? Great custom...no one will say "Oh yes Kate Hudson not special at all

Growing up in Atlanta, of course Scarlett O'Hara played a great part of our lives, however after Audery, there is only 2nd places, she was grace, and beautiful inside and outside. Why not she was voted by the accadamy as the best actress of the 20 century, she gave her last years to charity, and remained our most respected actress of all times.

Kira Knightley? Kate Hudson? Where is Scarlett's dress made from her mother's "po' teers?" Where is Deborah Kerr's ballgown from "Shall We Dance?" in "The King and I?" The divine Audrey is a perfect choice, also Marilyn, but Grace Kelly in "Rear Window," -- whose dress was copied and sold in the millions -- rightfully belongs on that list.
