2010 CMT Music Awards Hair Trend: Sleek, Straight Hairstyles

When we think of country music stars, one of the first images to pop into our heads is hair that's as big as their voices.

But at last night's 2010 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, some of our favorite celebs stood out on the red carpet in sleek, straight hairstyles.

Golden girl Taylor Swift left behind her famous wavy tendrils and opted for ultra-sleek locks. The 20-year-old singer-actress' side-swept coiff rounded out her smoky eyes and fresh face. Julianne Hough's straight 'do accentuated her buttery-blonde hair color and blue eyes. Kellie Pickler turned down the volume and turned up the sophistication with long layers. And presenter Hayden Panettiere proved she could stand along country's greatest with her slicked-down pixie haircut.

I have always liked the straight sleek look. There is something so simple and yet elegant about it. I hit puberty when I was 11 and my hair went from slightly wavy to massively curly frizzy overnight. It was the late 60's and straight hair was in. This didn't fair to well for me and they didn't have blow dryers and flat irons back then. We have come a long way since those days and I now have the pleasure of wearing them straight and sleek. And thank goodness for hair care products that reduce frizziness as well.

Judging by the photos, straight hair and black roots w/ raggy ends "rocked" the CMT Music Awards. Yuck. How can they think they look great in their designer gowns, make-up, etc ... and have a black stripe going down the middle of their heads? Kripes ... get a touch-up and a trim!

This is no new trend! That is how everyone has been wearing their hair for close to 10 years now. I am tired of straight boring hair. Let's see people go to a STYLE for a change, oh and maybe natural color instead of bleach blonde. Yawn.

I thought Julianne's hair looked amazing as did Taylor's but I happen to like Taylor's hair curly :) Kelli and Hayden's hair styles left a little to be desired. As to the comments about the roots, weirdly enough having darker roots is the new trend in hollywood these days. Can't say I like it but have read several fashion articles lately that seem to think its the new rage because we all know they can afford a touch-up!

i am so oooo sick of burning my hair..putting the chi iron away and letting my locks breathe.i have beautiful wavy hair and i think women should stop with the ugly stick straight hair..enough already..burnt hair..
