At the 2010 CMT Awards last night, Taylor Swift, Julianne Hough, and Carrie Underwood all arrived in short dresses. And why not? If any three ladies can pull off a mini, you're looking at 'em.

Swift strayed from her usual metallic and neutral gowns with this maroon Galliano pick, which she paired with Lorraine Schwartz black diamond hoops and a gold ring. We're undecided on the hue -- it's so unusual for a dress like this, but it might grow on us.

If we had Hough's amazing dancer's body, we might be inclined to wear that bright yellow Georges Hobeika mini, though. The sequins and beading add a little of that signature country music pageantry without being over the top -- even when paired with her Swarovski clutch and jewelry.

Underwood also went bright in a hot pink chiffon Jenny Packham number, which had enough special features -- keyhole front, black crystal waist beading, and a ruffled collar -- to keep the drapey, almost Grecian shape interesting.

For country music veteran Faith Hill, something soft but sexy was in order. Her light pink and white J. Mendel gown may not have been short like the rest of the pack's, but it featured a thigh-high slit and plunging neckline. In other (sad) news, Kellie Pickler majorly missed the mark with her Zuhair Murad dress. It looked dull on her and not too flattering for her shape -- someone find this girl a show-stopper for her next event! Maybe Hayden Panettiere will lend Pickler her emerald and black lace Emilio Pucci mini -- an infinitely more stylish choice.

As to be expected, the Jersey Shore was represented by Snooki (and The Situation, not pictured), who wore a silver disco ball-style dress (perhaps one of J. Woww's designs?). Sheryl Crow worse a simple white resort-y sheath, which was more Royal Caribbean than Red Carpet. Perhaps she just doesn't care much about flaunting her famous figure anymore (especially mature, since rocker ex Kid Rock was there). Saucy LeeAnn Rimes, who performed that night, wore a bright blue strapless sweetheart mini, which suited her perfectly.
