Long before she rocked beehives and Brigitte Bardot bouffants, Jennifer Lopez looked bangin' in braids.
In a new billboard unveiled today in New York City's Times Square for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a young J.Lo can be seen with her tresses in Pippi Longstocking-esque twists and tied to the top of her scalp. Little did she know she'd spark a trend more than 30 years later -- braids were all over the Spring 2010 runways!
The future fashion empress, who attended a Catholic grammar school, also wears a conservatively high-collared blouse with a plaid jumper -- hard to believe this is the same gal who took the plunge in that infamous plunging green Versace dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
J.Lo, who is mother to 2-year-old twins Max and Emme, has credited the Boys & Girls Club in her native Bronx, NY, with teaching her to sing and dance, and now she's hoping to inspire others as an ambassador for the organization, reports People.
The 40-year-old entertainer/mogul's billboard reads, "Be Extraordinary." Of course, when you're Jennifer Lopez, how can you be anything but?
