Summer 2010 Trend: All White Ensembles

With summer temps are hitting the high eighties, it's time to dress in cooled down tones. Why not channel the runway looks showcased at Calvin Klein, Fendi, Stella McCartney and more, and pop into an all white ensemble?

To wear this look and not appear too holy or starchy, consider a tropical approach. (Who doesn't love an all white getup while swanning about in the Caribbean?) Take louche, loose-fitting clothing made of breathable material for daytime excursions when the heat is at its highest.

If you're going for a night out, when the weather will be a bit chillier, those perfect white jeans with a fitted tank will serve as a cute casual option. A shorter dress might be appropriate for a more upscale occasion but make sure it has an interesting detail to help you stand out from the crowd. Intricate draping, one-shoulder pouf, or interesting fabrication such as eyelet or vintage lace will keep the frock from appearing too nurse-y.

Aside from a smashing tan, lucite accessories truly compliment an all white ensemble. A stack of clear bangles will provide polish. But if its colored gemstones that you prefer, consider turquoise jewelry. Whether its new and modern or lovable vintage, it will add an impressive pop to your breezy holiday-themed look.

Its obvious that none of the designers mentioned works with real women. White looks awful if you have even a few extra pounds. If you own a cat or dog forget about it! I use white in small doses and keep my white pants away from brown cat hair. Turquoise is a much better color for summer.

I'm sorry,but I don't agree with your idea of 'real women'.
Yes, real women may have some extra pounds and own a pet, but they also have the right to choose to wear any color they feel like, either is in or out. They don't need nobody telling them white is a color that makes them look awful. That's not true. I think white it's not only a summer color but it's the best neutral color you can wear any time of the year and looks good on anybody.
And, if you're the type of 'real woman' who will stop wearing white because somebody told you it adds you weight and whose wardrobe is meant to be pet friendly... I feel bad for you 'cos you're gonna end up wearing sweatpants and old t-shirts all your life.
Put your dog or cat aside for a while and embrace fashion.

Sorry, but the first of the 3 outfits looks like a potato sack on a scrawny chicken, the 2nd is just so-so because the model is a twig and the 3rd looks messy and again the model is a twig. And what's with the model's facial expressions. GROWL! Try smiling a little bit and it might make the outfit a bit more appealing.

surprised at the comments but I understand. When my children were younger I stayed away from white but in the summer it is the best thing. I wore a white dress to work a week ago...I never got stopped so many times. I will be wearing white at least three days a week LOL

OK the white makes you fat myth needs to go!!! Like NOW! It is called TAILORED clothes people! Its the FIT that determines whether white makes you look wider or slimer. I probally the biggest girl here a look fablous because, I follow this rule: If big on bottom, white on top, if big on top, white on bottom. all about proportion people!!
