Late last week the iconic retailer threw a party to debut the Assouline shop-in-shop on the sixth floor, where shoppers rubbed shoulders with and got books autographed by Assouline authors Kelly Killoren Bensimon (American Style, The Bikini Book, In The Spirit of the Hamptons), StyleList's own Lisa Marsh (American Fashion Cookbook), Pamela Fiori (In The Spirit of Capri) and Robert E. Bryan (American Fashion Menswear).
StyleList chatted with the authors and found out what new additions to the bright red shop-in-shop, complete with plush seating and checker-board floors, will be coming in the near future.
"I'm working on another book right now," reality star/model/author/jewelry designer Bensimon told StyleList. "My first book was about the Hamptons and it's always sold out, so I decided to do a new version of it, with a little bit of an edge. The core of the book is that it's going to be all photographed by me, so it'll be fun and very intimate. It'll be edgier because it will be everything I love and not so coffee table. It'll be more personal and more of a source book."
Speaking of sequels, Marsh revealed there might be a follow-up to her über-successful American Fashion Cookbook in the works.
"This book is in its second printing and it's one of the best-selling books Assouline has ever done because it has a real universal appeal," Marsh told us. "Everyone is talking about how we're going to do another one."
"There are over 300 designers in the CFDA and they aren't all represented in the book," she says. "And a lot of them have seen how it came out and they're like 'Why don't I have a recipe in there? Are you going to do another one?' Liz Lange wants to be in it, Tory Burch has more recipes, Behnaz Sarafpour is a huge baker and does a special cake for her husband's birthday every year. She has a strawberry shortcake recipe in the book, but she's like 'I've got more!'"
This is definitely a series we can get down with.
And we're sure the 25 newest members of the CFDA would also be game!
