Models pining for acting careers -- it's not an entirely novel concept. However, it is rare that a model is so successful in her new pursuit that she can leave her prior career behind.

According to British Vogue's Web site, 22-year-old model Lily Cole is hoping to do just that.

In an exclusive interview, the famed redhead, who starred in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" alongside Heath Ledger, "St Trinian's," and Marilyn Manson's currently on-hold "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll," said she's close to bailing on the fashion industry.

"I love acting and if the right opportunity did come along I would definitely consider quitting altogether. It is certainly something I want to prioritize in the future. It's not a finite decision though," British Cole, who studies acting at Cambridge University in England, explains.

"I may not get the opportunity. If a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity came along I'd even consider leaving Cambridge to do a film. I'd definitely weigh up my options and talk to my tutors about flexibility."

And just what type of role would propel her to hang up her catwalk heels for good?

"It's more about the director than the part, to be honest," she says. "I'm not committed to doing any specific roles. I'm more excited about playing lots of different parts. The role is secondary. I'd be very interested in anything by Darren Aronofsky, Woody Allen, or Godard, although I'm not sure he does films anymore."

Asked whether her modeling skills have improved her acting, Cole says, "It's hard to distinguish whether it has helped, but I don't know any other way. It's definitely helped confidence wise. I find acting much more of a challenge. Acting is definitely harder."

That is, unless one is trying to stomp down a runway in lobster-claw shoes.
