If you're going to invest in hair tools, you may as well get your animal print on.

That seems to be new haircare line Amika's philosophy.

In shades running the gamut from giraffe to leopard and even tattoo print, Amika's line of blow dryers, curlers and flat irons add an unexpected splash of attitude to the vanity counter.

So are the pretty new things just for show, or do they offer today's top technology too?

The blow dryers have tourmaline-infused ceramic parts designed to zap frizz and static, with an 1800 watt output that combined can speed up drying time by up to 70%, claims the brand.

The latch-free conical curlers aim to produce smooth crimp-free styles, and the ceramic flat irons use far infrared heat to seal and soften without over-exposing the cuticle to damaging dry heat.

But beauty doesn't come cheap. The stylers range from $110 to $400 a piece, and are accompanied by a haircare line that's is big on antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids, which enforce the strength of hair.

Our pick is the leopard-red hair dryer for it sleek design, technology and the 'ohhh' it's sure to elicit from girl friends.

Plus, we're a sucker for anything animal print.

We're also a sucker for the perfect blowout. Follow these tips to score yours.
