It's no secret that Katie Holmes is passionate about dancing. Besides regularly taking dance classes with her daughter Suri, she also showed off her fine footwork on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" last year and at an L.A. benefit last month.

No wonder, then, that the art form served as inspiration for the actress's Fall 2010 collection for Holmes & Yang, which includes sexy pieces in a cream, ballet nude-pink, and black palette.

"Ballet is superclassic, and there are so many rules," Jeanne Yang, Holmes's other half, tells the July issue of Elle magazine. "But you've got to have a little rebellion... you can always tell a dancer by the way she puts her clothes together."

Holmes, 31, and Yang, 40, met six years ago on a photo shoot for which Yang was the stylist. The women bonded over a white pair of pants that had pockets that were visible through the fabric.

Yang recalls, "She said, 'Why didn't they put a nude lining in?'  I thought, That's crazy that she would notice that. This wasn't just an appreciation of pretty clothes."

Fast forward four years later, and the duo decided to collaborate on a collection that was both classic and functional.

"We want to create pieces a woman can wear over and over, and people won't necessarily say, 'Oh, you wore that last week,'" Holmes says of the line, which includes jumpsuits, skirts, blouses, trousers, and cocktail dresses in a variety of silks (jersey, crepe de chine, and jacquard).

For the issue, Holmes, wearing her own clothes and Christian Louboutin satin and lace peep-toe pumps, and Yang, in her own clothes plus a Holmes & Yang suede and silk jacket, posed with models dressed in chic pieces from the Holmes & Yang line.

Among the looks: a silk crepe de chine blouse with silk crepe de chine trousers; a suede and silk jacket with a Chantilly lace and Lycra silk dress; and a silk crepe de chine dress, suede and silk jacket, and baby alpaca hat.

The Holmes & Yang collection also includes Mommy & Me designs for little girls, and besides stylish Suri, Yang's 7-year-old twin daughters are also big fans. Not surprisingly, both women's husbands are starting to feel a little left out.

Says Mrs. Tom Cruise, "They always hang out at our meetings. They say, 'When are you guys going to do the men's collection?' "
