Ed Westwick Admits He Wears Speedos

Earlier this month, StyleList told you that Speedos are making a comeback overseas, and now we have proof: "Gossip Girl" star Ed Westwick boasts that he is a banana-hammock boy!

At a 30th anniversary party for Express in New York City, the English actor told MTV that he prefers to stuff his twig and berries into a Speedo instead of traditional trunks.

Asked what kind of swimsuit he wears to the beach, 22-year-old Westwick responded, "I don't specifically like the surfer ones."

When the interviewer asked if he wore banana hammocks, Westwick, who plays sleazy Chuck Bass on the hit CW show, replied, "Oh, always!" Then drove the Spandex question home with a definitive "Certainly."

For Westwick, baring his bulge in skimpy swimwear all comes down to confidence.

"I think it all has to do with how you wear it," said the actor, who recently split from "Gossip Girl" co-star/Op campaign face Jessica Szhor. "And that's for anything that has to do with clothes."

Let's just hope he doesn't feel the same way about Bieber bangs.

Personally speaking, I will rejoice the day when male fashion ditches the oversize, baggy look of clothing that has taken over in the last decade. Men either look like slobs or little boys in their sloppy clothes. I won't wear clothes that don't fit.

Europeans are light years ahead of us in wearing little or nothing at the beach. I find Americans very silly when it comes to the puritanical idea that everything must be covered. No one could know either sex has sex organs. Get over it, get over it, get over it.

Well, he is English. Speedos are the rage in Europe. When I lived in Orlando and went to the attractions area, that was how you could tell where folks were from. It is mostly a terrible look. However, David Beckham.

If the ridiculous American stores would sell sensible-length trunks and shorts, guys wouldn't be tempted to wear speedos. Everything is at least half-thigh or longer and there's no reason for it since guy's legs are NOT ugly! How many times I felt stupid trying to pull and roll up my suit to get a tan--why? Even women wonder why the saggy-baggies and long-lengths are still all there is in the store, because the gangsta look is long gone! Europeans in speedos might look silly, but WE DO TOO!!

Ed Westick wears Speedos. Many female celebrities wear bikinis. I am a guy and the only swimwear I don for the beach are Speedos, brief, sexy, and tight.

So What!

News, people wear bathing suits to swim in. Real enlightenment here. I like wearing swimming trunks. I guess it all depends on where and with whom you are swimming. Speedos, briefs, trunks and suits, it doesn't matter if you are skinny dipping they all come off. :)

I never wear the baggy look. I have one pair of shorts that go to my knees, but they are see thru. I dont understand the recent long shorts craze.

Although, if you notice, the baggy clothes look kind of coincides with the obesity problem.

I worked hard to get a sculpted muscular body. I'm not about to hide in a pair of granny panties. Speedo briefs are a little too brief for me, but the square cuts are perfect for a tan and still give you a great look. The only place men are ashamed of themselves is in the US, but Americans are also the least fit of any nation I have been to. Thats why you dont see many speedos here.

I wish American men didn't wear those droopy drawer "swimsuits". In the 50s and 60s, men all wore speedo type suits. The hippy era ushered in the knee length shorts for men at the beach. They are baggy and always too long - down to the knee. Is it necessary to cover that much skin at the beach? European men must think American men are nuts. Hooray for the speedo. Hope it makes a rapid return to the American beaches.

When I was 11 years old and I started to dive competitively every guy on the team wore speedos and at first I wore just my swim trunks and then when I had my first diving meet I seen ALL the guys on other teams wearing speedos and so I caved in and bought my first pair and I have been wearing them ever since. I'm a bit older now, about 30+ years and I still don't think there is anything wrong with guys wearing them. As long as the person who is wearing them is comfortable about it, then it really is nobody's business to judge.

Mens fashions including swim suits, should be like the latest suggestions for womens clothing...short enough to be interesting yet long enough to cover the subject.

People insist i wear a muu-muu at this stage of the game. I take offense, my 376 pounds and 3 teeth should not be any reason why I can't wear a speedo!

It's a commonly known fact that Americans are such prudes and worry so much about people thinking they're not manly men they believe that wearing a speedo is going to make everyone thing they're big sissies. I say wear what looks good on you and alot of men look good in speedos. Nobody looks good in oversized baggy shorts. I personally like the bathing suit style that Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale. That's a very hot look.

Only Speedos are allowed in public pools in France. The idea is that trunks become soiled from wearing them as shorts and riding on scooters and motorcycles. They aren't making a comeback here. They have always been!

NO ONE would take a second look at this UGLY guy ANYWHERE. He best have talent because he lost out in the looks department. Kieth Richards (Rolling Stones) CURRENT look is better than this ugly thing. The delivering Doctor attached the afterbirth to this kids body.
As for the woman in France ... kids have to take a shower before getting in a pool in the USA, and yes, we know Europeans have a tough time taking more than 1 bath a week but dont you have washing machines and use them? STINKY, DIRTY, FILTHY, NASTY, AWFUL!!!!! Wear fresh clean clothes, the people that SMELL YOU will be SO RELIEVED! (And while you are at it SHAVE YOUR ARM PITS ... and wax down there ... no one wants to go down into a smelly clump of knatted up hair)
