The latest celebrity to add "fashion designer" to her resume, Spears collaborated on a new back-to-school-themed line for Candie's, which hits Kohl's stores and kohls.com July 1.
However, since we figure you can't wait a couple of days to see what Spears has been up to, here's a preview.
The juniors collection, dubbed Britney for Candie's, consists of a lot of comfy basics including skinny and boyfriend jeans; denim vests; leggings featuring a little embellishment near the ankles; lace crop-tops; beaded cotton tanks and tees, and fancier tiered-petal blouses; a black trench; a gray faux-leather motorcycle jacket; black miniskirts and leather bags with metal stud details; a fitted corset top; striped sweaters; and animal-print T-shirt dresses.
There are also shoes such as platform pumps and fold-over booties as well as long drop necklaces in the line.
Spears, who has been the company's face for three seasons, recently told InStyle that the design process included providing ideas on her favorite styles to the Candie's team, who then produced sketches that the pop star contributed to.
"I used a lot of studs and lace, because I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girlie," Spears told the magazine. "I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection. And I love jewelry so there are a lot of fun pieces. There are great necklaces and big earrings."
As for her favorite piece, Spears says the prize goes to the black trench.
"You can wear it over your outfit or as a dress. There's also an amazing studded skirt that's perfect for going out," she tells InStyle before elaborating on her own style preferences. "My personal style is mix of comfortable and flirty. I love cute little dresses but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans."
What do you think of Spears's fashion-design skills (see her whole collection at candies.com)? Is it amazing or should she stick to singing?
