Men Close Grooming Gap With Women, Study Finds

Move over, ladies! Guys are going to need more bathroom time before heading out the door.

According to a new survey of 1,000 men and 1,000 women, there's only a seven minutes gap between the two genders when it comes to time spent on their beauty regimen.

Conducted by Allure and GQ, the study found that compared to 10 years ago, 63 percent of men actually enjoy their daily grooming routine, while 72 percent feel that they are under more pressure to care about their appearance.

Thanks to an upsurge in men's hair care, fragrance, and cleansing products, beauty samples (yes, the fellas appreciate Kiehl's, too), specialty stores like Freemans Sporting Club, and alluring advertisements that speak to their concerns, men typically spend $121 to make sure they look and feel good (while women fork over $194 for their beauty products), according to the findings.

The study also claims that men use an average of 11 of beauty products -- just 5 less than woman -- with hair care, razors, deodorant/antiperspirant, shaving cream/gel, and fragrance rounding out the top five go-to products.

And don't be too quick to attach the label "metrosexual" to this new generation of men. Not surprisingly, 93 percent of men say the moniker is "offensive, dated, and doesn't describe me."

We sure aren't complaining about a man who knows its important to smooth on a hydrating moisturizer after exfoliating or the difference between pomade and a hair styling gel.

But is he stealing your makeup?

Sissy boys worry about that crap. Young boys now act like girls, because of hysterical women and all the stupid laws they come up with; domestic violence, diversity training, sexual harassment, safe zones, gun-free zones, restraining orders, alimony, child support, visitation rights, getting ran into the poor house by the corrupt court system that always favors women, false rape accusations; it goes on and on. All aimed at demoralizing men, and making them feel worthless. That's why many men now don't want to have anything to do with American women...they are the nastiest women on the planet. Not even worth one second of your time. Stay single, enjoy life, don't make the mistake of ever marrying a nasty skank from the USA.

I guess qualifies ME as a "sissy"! I make it my duty to be fresh, and trimmed, before leaving the house.

If you wasn't so fat, and confined to your La-Z-boy, you'd also be able to get out, and show-off that nicely trimmed goatee I'm sure you can have. You just have to care about yourself enough. It must suck to be you! =/

From the time of the 2nd world war, everyone realized the best-looking guys ever were the German buzz-cutted soldiers. And it's still true. Go aead guys; waste time and money on hair!

Those who think being well-groomed is gay, or "sissy". You're probably (most likely) the type of guy who have to pay women for sex. I, on the other hand, get it offered to me on a regular basis. Only, I respect myself, and my woman. She appreciates my clean-cut appearance. As I'm a reflection of her.

P.S. It takes a man to refer to himself (sarcastically) as a "sissy". But it takes a complete moron to take it seriously.

How's your birds nest of a beard working for ya? XD

I'm sorry, but if a guy uses more hair products than I do, takes longer to get ready than I do and gets regular manzillian waxes, he's too much woman for me!

There are a lot of extremes in these blogs. Basically, if a man keeps himself well-groomed, bathed, and doesn't over-use aftershave (real men do NOT wear cologne), he should be ok.

The marketing idiots out there are finally getting to the weaker men strictly to convince them that they can get more women by being LIKE them.

Men who do NOT like the term Metrosexual are probably the ones who ARE but won't admit it.

Men are SUPPOSED to be men and women are SUPPOSED to be women. It's that clear...and it is why there is an attraction to each other. If I wanted to be with a bunch of sissies, I'd just as soon hang out with the girls. If any friend of mine ever said he couldn't go golfing because he has a spa treatment appointment, I think I'd kick him right in the groin to remind him who he was.

C'Mon girls...would you like it if us men tried to masculinize YOU? Let us be men and (if you wish) pamper yourselves and be everything YOU want to be. The world is yours...just let us be men.

The only "products" a man needs are deodorant, toothpaste, and a bar of ivory soap. The only gear a man needs is a washcloth, razor, and toothbrush. If you are camping or in the field, subtract the deodorant.
