Given that it's the 4th of July weekend, if Juliette Lewis were in the United States, her new blue hairdo might make sense.

But the 37-year-old singer and actress debuted her neon blue locks in London this week where she was performing.

As shocking as it is, Lewis isn't the first to flaunt brightly-colored blue locks. Ashley Olson wore streaks of this hue for a while. Kate Hudson donned light blue strands while filming "Bride Wars." And most recently, Katy Perry showed up at the 2010 MTV Music Awards with a full head of electric blue tresses.

Aside from touring with her band, The New Romantiques, Lewis recently landed a guest appearance on TNT's "Memphis Beat" where she co-stars with Jason Lee, a detective who loves the blues (music, that is). Maybe that's where the inspiration for her new hair color came from.

Whatever the reason, it's a statement all right.
