Kate Somerville Transforms Skin and Fixes Paris Hilton's Orange Spray Tans

A 10-week transformation sounds like an idea for an extreme makeover TV show, but for several of skin health expert Kate Somerville's clients, it was a reality.

In Somerville's new book, Complexion Perfection, the Los Angeles-based celebrity aesthetician guides readers through skin makeovers on clients with issues ranging from severe acne to rosacea and aging, with how-to skin and diet advice they can put into play at home for their own complexion concerns.

We were most impressed by Karina, whose lifetime battle with acne and lingering pigmentation issues was turned around in just 10 weeks. Somerville says that the photos are untouched and that none of the clients had cosmetic surgery. All work focused on skincare, diet and non-invasive procedures like laser.

Somerville's CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment joins the newest crop of stem cell technology skin products with the use of P-199 -- a synthesized peptide found in umbilical cords that stimulates the growth of new, healthy tissue.

The youth ingredient was discovered by a doctor who performs in-vitro surgeries on fetuses, and discovered that the babies didn't have scars after birth in spite of skin-traumatizing removal of tumor growths. It's believed that the super-regenerative quality of the umbilical cord stem cells creates new skin to heal the scars.

CytoCell sold out in four minutes when it debuted exclusively on QVC, but you can pre-order a jar on Somerville's site. Not surprisingly, the high-tech ingredients are pricey, and will set you back $150.

Meanwhile, Somerville's Tanning Towelettes have emerged as the brand's current best-seller -- and were inspired in part by client Paris Hilton.

"All of my products are created out of a need for my clients. Paris would come in with these awful orange spray tans, and one day I was exfoliating her neck during a facial and all the orange was just stuck. I said, 'Oh, girl - no! We've got to do something about this!' Same thing with Debbie Matenoupoulas. She came in with this crazy spray tan before hosting the TV Guide Awards, and I said, 'We've got to stop this!'"

The towelettes were hatched soon afterwards. The paraben-free sheets claim to produce an even, streak-proof color within two to four hours and one tissue is enough for a full body and face application.

From the evenly bronzed looks of the hotel heiress at recent events, we're guessing Hilton has scored some towelettes since.

Have you noticed that even celebs with the most meticulously maintained complexions have failed to take care of their hands?

I don't believe it for a SECOND. Lasers were used on this woman's face and THAT is what cleared up her skin! Yes, it's non-invasive but laser is the only thing that will remove pigmintation from your skin...NO CREAM will do that. Maybe this stuff helps with acne scars, but there is no way for it to take out dark spots and/or broken blood vessels. And I can tell you from personal experience...lasers are EXTREMELY PAINFUL. I won't do it again...they don't tell you it could take years of maintenance treatments to maintain the results. Not worth it. I wear mineral makeup instead.

I agree the lasers made a major contribution. I have to recommend the lasers...that is if you're talking about Photo Facials/Intense Pulsed Light treatments. If you have Rosacea it is a godsend and the pain is more like what they describe before they do them....like a rubber band being snapped against your skin but it's only takes 20 - 30 minutes for a treatment. I just go home and take a nap afterwards!

I have Rosacea and it's made all the difference for me. I now only need to get a photofacial a couple times a year. Otherwise I would be running around out there with a face that looks like I fell asleep in the sun without sunscreen! And nothing covers that up, I got so tired of being asked how I got sunburned. If you have Rosacea or an unsightly birthmark, photo facials are excellent and worth the discomfort during the procedure. Really anybody who has Rosacea don't be afraid! The pain is a surprise at first but it is tolerable and you won't believe how it will change your life by getting rid of that itchy irritated red skin. I recommend getting photo facials through a Dermatologists office.

Sorry, but I disagree with anyone who says that there are no creams that can get rid of dark spots. I have been using Olay's Targeted Tone Enhancer and it really works. It will never make them go away forever. I have to use the cream often to keep the spots away but it does work. I have large dark spots from hormones on my cheeks and with this cream, I keep them at bay.

The photo above. In the after photo the model's hair is styled and cut, her nose is thinner, her double chin is gone, her eyebrows have been altered and she's wearing makeup.
Why should we think any of the other changes to her skin are real???

gussie - i looked again and you are right! no double chin and her nose does look thinner, especially at the flares. i didn't think her acne/scars disappeared w/cream. but to photoshop or undergo other procedures as well just doesn't make for truth in advertising...

I also have rosacea, but a dermatologist game me a cream for it, something called Ketaconsole (I think) not sure of the spelling, but I cleared the rosacea in about a weeks time, and I haven't had it since.

You people need to learn how to read "All work focused on skincare, diet AND non-invasive procedures like laser." She NEVER said that all the improvement was only due to her creams. she USED lasers as well.
