Target is set to open in the shopper's paradise that is Manhattan on Sunday, July 25.
This giant store will be located in the East River Plaza at 116th Street in East Harlem, right off the FDR Drive, which is linked to mass transit (the number 6 subway line) by a pedestrian bridge.
To celebrate its Harlem debut, the retailer has tapped three talents to create a limited-edition series called the Harlem Designer Collections.
The boldfaces tapped are Isabel and Ruben Toledo (she designed Michelle Obama's dress and jacket for inauguration day), designer Stephen Burrows, and acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson.
"Target wanted Harlem people involved," Burrows tells StyleList. "I operated my studio in Harlem for six years. I live here and have since I was a kid."
The Stephen Burrows for Target collection is a capsule collection of knit shirts, skirts, and dresses -- including a zip-front pocketed hoodie dress -- that range in price from $19.99 to $34.99.
"They are in red, yellow, orange, and leopard skin," Burrows shares. "These are easy pull-on pieces. It's great to be able to do something in this price range."
Isabel and Ruben Toledo for Target is a collection of swim pieces, including suits and towels, that range from $17.99 to $34.99.
Marcus Samuelsson for Target offers a range of aprons, place mats, kitchen towels, potholders, and napkins, as well as a collection of T-shirts that will be available exclusively at the East Harlem Target.
Expect this store to keep its offerings in top shape, given that it is next door to the Manhattan Costco, which has been known to stock Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

I tried their Target store in the southern California area, and I really didn't like it.
I felt harassed at the check out process by both the cashier and the security guard. The security is usually big and black. I paid for my goods like normal, and after a comment from somebody in line to hurry up, the security guard came out and walked towards me. I really felt harassed, when he asked for the receipt I had just gotten in line. I'm afraid other Target outlets are similar.
