"We love Madonna, she is a true star, an icon loved by all generations!" Domenico Dolce, who served as the ad's creative director alongside Stefano Gabbana, tells StyleList exclusively of the Italian-American entertainer. "It has been amazing for us to work with her on this ad campaign."
Like last season, the new black-and-white images were shot by Steven Klein and feature the theme of the luxe Italian housewife, played by Madonna and inspired by Italian film siren Anna Magnani in the 1962 flick "Mamma Roma" -- a favorite of both Madge and the designers.

The shots, taken in both Harlem, New York, and Milan in late April, are set to look like a nonspecific Italian city.
"Thanks to the great success the previous campaigns had, we really liked the idea, with this campaign, to tell a story," Gabbana tells StyleList.
"We love the 'domestic' version of Madonna, it conveys the idea of a real and very human woman. With her and Steven Klein, we are now a team, and there is great understanding. Any time we work together, we share ideas. Madonna also actively participates in the decision-making process. When we are on set, there is a lot of work to do, but we try to also have some fun!"

With that being said, fans should rest assured that this Italian threesome won't be stopping their collaborations anytime soon.
