Orly's New Plastix Nail Polishes Salute the '80s

There's been a lot of chatter lately about Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera's latex outfits.

But really, all this "who wore it first, who wore it better?" banter is moot, because the real answer is that twenty years ago, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper were the originals.

As always, everything old is new again, and evidently the recent 1980s style revival shows no signs of slowing: witness the new Plastix Collection from Orly.

Even if you're not brave enough to encase your limbs in latex, you can get a touch of the stuff on your fingers and toes. Choose from four Decade-of-Excess-inspired shades (Old School Orange, Retro Red, Purple Pleather, and Viridian Vinyl, $7.50 each) that transform nails into an odd finish that's smooth, rubbery and shiny, yet also kind of matte.

Those colours are cute if you are between 9 and 15. After that, they look silly. I saw a lady who had to be in her 50's with the orange looking polish on. She was way too tan, way too old and it looked just too awful.

Nude Shimmer by Sally Hansen is a beautiful shade. I constantly get compliments on my nails when I wear that polish. It can be a daytime professional colour or an elegant enhancement with a evening gown, or just something that can be worn with jeans and a t-shirt that just adds style.

Im 38 and wear all the bright colors of polish..I get all kinds of compliments on the colors I wear . You dont have to be a teenager its all state of mind. BTW my 15 year old niece tries to emulate me so there ya go.

The blue and purple shades can be had through Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine. Haven't seen it in the stores lately, but have seen it available online.

I like Funky Fingers polish better because it stays on busy fingernails (not typing - digging in dirt!) for almost two weeks and they have every color you can or can't imagine wearing, also the ones with the tiny brush for decorating and they are much cheaper. Once did each finger a different neon color and everyone loved it, but I woke up several morning and my first thought was candy! And I am a grandma loving the colors! Whichever brand you use - play and enjoy the colors!
