Helen Mirren Turns 65! See the Birthday Girl's Style Evolution

Helen Mirren may be blowing out 65 candles on July 26, but she's not exactly getting into granny mode. The Oscar-winning actress was recently named one of the sexiest women in the world and memorably posed in the buff for New York Magazine just a month ago.

And as these photos will attest, the star has only gotten better with age, transitioning from poodle perms and metal bras to chic bobs and elegant gowns that show off her age-defying curves.

I first saw this treasure in Age of Consent, my head was screwed up from that day on. I would hate Taylor Hackford for no reason other than he gets to look upon that figure everyday, but alas I can't hate him for being so lucky. Happy birthday Dame Helen

Did that woman not work out a day in her life? I like her very much for not being a 65 year old caricature, but this was not an attractive younger woman. She looked untoned and frumpy in many of these shots, even the one of her at 19.

Just as striking now as then? In what way? What do you mean by striking? Striking, to me, means that a woman has some appealing aspect in her looks that demands one's attention. What is that quality in the Helen Mirren of today? Because I don't see it. Her looks are as plain as any other ELDERLY woman, without so much as a smidgeon of sex appeal, for what of that particular quality she possessed, it went years ago when her youth vanished. Oh, how dare me say that? Mirren would be the first to agree. Yes, I can see the coquet she once was, and what a sight, but that was AGES ago. Time is a thief, dearie, and no amount of political correctness is going to mask it's terrible toll. The bloom went off the rose, she's over the hill, she's not as young as she used to be, the old gray mare she ain't what she used to be, for God's sake! Stop embarrassing these old things, they're OLD; they know it, men know it, so what is the point of this appalling flattery?

in 1989 helen mirren rocked the under arm hair phenomenon always so popular in europe. in 2006 she rocked the saggy
boobs down to the waist. as for the rest of her fashion sense she is slightly better than michele (i wear my belts under my boobs that only calls more attention to my humonguous ass and thunderthighs) obama
