Makeover My Mom: The Ultimate Mom-Shell

Carmen is a 36-year-old mother of two -- a pre-teen and a teenager. Top that responsibility with caring for an ill father and a full-time career as an accountant, and you have absolutely no "Carmen time."

That's exactly why her close friends nominated her for our Makeover My Mom series. Putting family and career first, Carmen's appearance is hardly a priority with shapeless hair, zero makeup, and comfy clothes as her daily uniform.

Enter our makeover team, whose plan is to give Carmen an easy, yet sophisticated look.

Makeup artist Janice Bremec kept it simple so Carmen --who claims to be clueless when it comes to makeup-- can recreate the look at home. Bremec smoothed on a sheer, lightweight foundation to even and enhance her skin tone. Next, she swept a soft shadow across her lids, then lined the lower lash lines with black liner. A few coats of mascara, a soft pink blush, and a nude lipstick finished the look.

Hairstylist Chris Megia chopped several inches from Carmen's strands and added a few long layers. She kept the hair long enough for versatility, yet short enough to create body and movement.

Fashion stylist and Makeover My Mom host Sam Saboura slipped Carmen into a little red dress. The vibrant color brightened her complexion and the fit showed off her fabulous figure.

In a few short hours, Carmen went from working mom to the ultimate mom-shell.

To see more stylish makeovers for every body type, check out our Mission Makeover series.

Doesn't lighten her workload. Just makes it harder to get around in high heels.

All she needed was a trim to keep her beautiful long hair. it looks like she got one of those haircuts where the left side is shorter than the right side. TACKY. whats wrong with long hair? when gals have beaustiful hair, why chop it all off? most guys like it longer. it makes her face too round and her arms and thighs are way too out of shape for that dress. ditch the clothes makeover, but sorry that youre stuck with the 'do til it grows out.

Just once, please complete a make-over without high heals. In real life, commuting to work and dealing with kids, we are not going to wear these heals. Is there a way to look good and still be able to function in life?

deg..there is nothing wrong with her arms or legs..they look just fine to me..she's a woman, she doesn't need biceps..jeez..however, having said that..i do agree with you about the haircut..i hate those chopped up haircuts..if they wanted a shorter do on her they just should have cut it evenly all around shoulder length. i've been the victim of those haircuts one too many times..the one thing she has going for her though is she has straight smooth hair.

I agree with deg and maria about the her hair. Why is it that as soon as I see the word "make-over," it is almost a 100% certainty that a short do will be coming. As deg said, men usually prefer longer hair on women. Now...if the woman doesn't care about what any man thinks about her hair, that is one thing, but studies show men usuallly find longer hair more attractive on women.

I wholeheartedly agree; : From a cutie to a hottie." However, she'd look even better without the damn lopsided haircut, very dumb. Longer hair also looks much more attractive to me,especially on an an Asian honey with that beautiful jet-black hair. Great legs too.

Just what she needs, her azz hanging out while she's trying to take care of life. Why do people think T&A has to be the way of all women? The neckline is too low and the dress is too short. We all know what happens when you sit down in this kind of dress. Not appropriate for work, maybe standing around at a cocktail party is all. You can be cute with normal clothes on. The haircut is cute. It's not uneven it's tucked behind her shoulder on one side. The makeup is nice.

Most of these make overs on AOL the woman looks just as good before. This woman looks much better after the make over. She is not ugly before but she is awsome after.

I dont know what you people are talking about. Her hair shorter on one side??? Its just layered a little more in the front. This is a great cut, her hair before was too long and stringy. Absolutley no style what so ever to it. I think she looks great now, really nice make over.

Cute makeover for going out, but I would definitely refrain from wearing that outfit to work.

I think she looks adorable. However, I would say the look is really an "evening dinner look" as opposed to a work look, (with the short dress, heels, low neck line.) And yes, the other commenter is correct, this is not one of those a-symetrical cuts, it's just layered around the front and some of it (her hair) is behind her shoulder in the pic. I think. I do think they could have left a little more length on her hair, she's got great hair, BUT she looks great and good for her & hopefully she loves it & feels all refreshed. I hope she likes it and that she had fun.
