What's the perfect accessory to top off those chic suede booties?

Nine West is betting that it's fragrance.

The retailer just announced that it has signed a deal with the Jones Apparel Group to create a line of fragrances that will launch next fall in select department stores, specialty retailers and Nine West retail shops.

"Like the perfect pair of shoes, a woman's fragrance is the sensual completion to her look by providing an inviting and intimate expression of her directly," says Richard Dickson, CEO of branded businesses at Jones Apparel Group.

Oh la la. Might it pick up on the sultry white floral trend of recent fragrance launches by both Kim Kardashian and Yves Saint Laurent? (And if the launch party is as cool as YSL's Opium debut, we'll be sure to get on the list!)

While there's no word yet on what the scents will smell like, Nine West has already set lofty goals of selling the juice internationally as well. The retailer currently boasts sales in 59 countries across the world, including stylish hotspots like Paris, London, Tokyo and Toronto.

Coveted leather accessory brand Coach has successfully launched both fragrance and cosmetic collections, which shoppers have scooped up in droves since distribution spread to department stores and Sephora this past spring.

If there's one thing the more affordable Nine West does well, it's knocking off sexy styles straight from the shelves of haute fashion designers like Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik; we've seen many a strappy sandal and zip-up bootie make the transition from label to lower-cost steal in less than a season.

Can Nine West do the same with fragrance? We'll all just have to sniff and see.
