Ever thought of choosing your hairstyles by face shape? The right haircut and hairstyle can draw attention to your best facial features, and shift attention from anything you want to disguise. In our video series, The Perfect Haircut for Your Face Shape, we explore the styles that look best on round, oval, square, long, and heart shaped faces.

Sometimes the most subtle change to your hairstyle can make a big difference.

Take a look at Luiza Martins. She has naturally curly hair that she says is wild and difficult to control.

While celebrity hairstylist, Shirlena Allen loves Luiza's locks, she recognizes that it's not flattering her long face shape. Plus, the gray strands are only emphasizing her coarse and wiry texture.

By adding sweeping bangs and trimming up the layers, Allen creates a fresh new look for Luiza. The bangs soften her long face and help to shorten it, while the redefined layers bring more volume to the crown and allow the curls to fall more naturally.

After forming small ringlets around Luiza's face, Allen lets her hair air dry. She then styles it with her fingers to give it a tousled, carefree look.

For more tips on curly hair, check out the video below. And if you like this makeover for curly hair, you wouldn't want to miss this transformation!

The difference is barely discernible.
I think some of these stylists must hate women!

She need a good haircut. It looks as bad as it did before. I would shave my head if I had hair like that.

I think Allen "botched up" Luiza's hair! I have very similar fine curly hair, and the worst thing a stylist can do is cut short layers, especially around the crown area! The shorter layers will promote the crown area to be bushier/ fuller than the longer hair, giving a "poodle" look! Allen had the right idea by cutting Luiza's hair a bit shorter, to give her face a lift, as well as giving her long layered bangs, but she should have kept long light layers on the sides and back! A curling cream product, mixed with a bit of hair gel, works best to keep curls bouncy and smooth.
I bet Luiza went home and cried!!!!

There's not much you can do for hair like that..I think it needs a keratin treatment or something...to smooth it out, or a perm to make it super curly..not that hot mess she has on her head..but some guys like that kind of hair...lol

Last time I saw hair like that was when the lady touched a static generator. Before and after show just a wild frzz. By the way, after picture is a bit of a cheat shot. For proper comparison with before, she shouldn't be wearing more makeup like she is in the photo. A little trick to draw the eyes.

I totally agree with Tracy..never should have layered it up so much around the crown..BIG MISTAKE WITH HAIR LIKE THAT..gonna be soooo bushy after she washes it out...she should go get it straightened out at the salon, they can put some natural collagen smoothers in it or something..or at least go get it blown out.

I agree with Kat. Both models looked better "before" the expert treatment. Stick with nature and a good haircut, maybe some gel.

Still looks like a rats nest. If Chelsea Clinton's could be straighen out so can hers. Looks like she needs a new hair stylist and make up artist.

This is ridiculous!!.. All he did was come the hair from one side to the other added eye makeup and lipstick..you call that a CUT? I could have done better with some Brylcreme. The front on the new cut is messy... it would have been better to have simply pulled it all off the face and combed thru to at least not look so matted. The stylists failed horribly on this one. He should hand in his blow dryer, comb, brush and license. He is a floop. No one should have taken a picture of this to pass off to anyone as a before and after looking a sheer mess. Then to have it advertised on the aol page for people to click on to see this joke. Next time cut atleast 4 or 5 inches off, use a wide tooth styling comb and fluff those curls around her face to soften it and make it look more rounded..
She would have a neated, well groomed look rather than that bird's nest in front of her face..

I don't think he had a comb or brush! I have curly hair that looks just like that when I get up in the morning. I do brush or comb it several times a day if it is not put up and do not have to use a flat iron to keep it looking fixed. This wild and woolly look is certainly not anything to pay money for.

Yikes! She has some wild crazy hair, none of the pictures look good. In this day and age, is there not some relaxer, straightener, gels, creams, something to tame that rats nest? I mean seriously, she is not a woman you want to sit in front of you at the movies. Straighten that hair and get a good cut. I do like naturally curly hair, but I've never seen a bush like this. The one's I've seen are curly but small curlers, and they don't look like they were in a windtunnel like this lady. Or at least pull it into a pony tail, something. This is the worse hair I've seen in my life and I'm no spring chicken. Poor lady - someone, please help her!

Ridiculous. You can barely tell it's been cut. And that's a terrible makeup job...she looks even older in the second photo.
