Kiehl's isn't your average frou-frou beauty brand, so when they decided to partner with AmfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, a stuffy gala at a hotel somewhere was clearly not going to happen.
Nope, the indie-spirit, universally loved company has organized LifeRide, a fund-raising motorcycle ride (which is not surprising since many of the stores boast cool vintage bikes), plus a limited edition product to raise money.
Starting in San Diego on August 2nd and ending in San Francisco on the 7th, a group of motorcycle-loving badasses (including Easy Rider himself, Peter Fonda!) will zoom up the California coastline, and make an appearance at a bunch of Kiehl's stores along the way, donating money to amfAR at each stop. On the day of each appearance, shoppers will receive a discount of 15% on their in-store purchases at that store -- the full event schedule is below.
Not on the West Coast? No problem.
Get in on the action by snapping up a Limited Edition Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 ($50 for 8.4 ounces; 100% of net profits up to $25,000 go directly to amfAR) - check out the amazing artwork, inspired by the ride at various Kiehl's stores in California, the NYC flagship store and on kiehls.com, starting August 1st. As an added bonus Kiehl's will extend complimentary ground shipping and a 10-day supply of their famous Creme de Corps lotion when you purchase the new Limited Edition or standard Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. Enter the code LIFERIDE at checkout until August 7th, when the offer expires.
Between the charity ride and product sales, Kiehl's plans to donate a whopping $85,000 to amfAR.
