I disagree!!!! Dressing like a boy and wanting to do things with the boys does not make you a lesbian. Its called a Tom Boy.

it's harmless...she's making decisions for herself that don't hurt anyone...it won't change her sexuality because she likes boys clothes..

The child should be encouraged to dress and act like the girl she is and not a boy!

Why is it so hard for some to accept that young children can have valid opinions/preferences that don't follow the norm? My 4 y.o. son has had a passion for pink things (including pajamas, nail polish, socks, candies, etc.) for over 2 years...yet, he also can name over 140 different types of vehicles and is rough and rambunctious like many boys. By the way, my husband and I are not fans of pink. We just have learned to listen to who our children truly are and have come to appreciate their uniqueness. I feel it is a gift to accept them without judgment. The more okay you are with yourself, the more okay you'll be with who your kids are/turn out to be.

I disagree - sorry, I feel that it is environmental experiences and choices that influence one to become les or gay. I've had several relatives that were that way - two died of AIDS. I also am a teacher and see how comments made by other kids can affect the feelings of children by other children - children are very impressionable. Kids can say some very cruel things to each other. And, when kids dress in certain ways, they do make commments. I pull those kids aside and talk to them when I catch them. But, you can't always see or hear what they say. I feel for them. It's sad, because some boys are very shy and not agressive. And then there are girls who are very loud and assertive. I had a student one year that was so timid and shy, had long hair, wore boy type clothing, and the name could have been a boys. At first, I thought this kid was a girl for weeks. Parents need to think about what they are doing when they make choices of dress of names for their kids. It's important!

I dressed as boyish as permitted back in the 1960's, wearing a dress only to school and church. On any given day, you could find me in a tree with my turtle, some rocks and probably a worm in my pocket. My favorite game was cowboys and indians, my favorite toy was a semi truck that carried cars on its back. Up until the age of about 10, it wasn't unusual to find me without a shirt on in the summer, much to the chagrin of my sisters! LOL! I am now a grandmother of 3, with a 4 year old granddaughter that wears all boy clothing, down to the underwear. When she remembers her manners at dinner she says "I'm a gentleman, right Grandpa?" to my husband who is big on manners at the table. She loves boy toys and superheros. I'm not worried about her at all. Sounds pretty normal to me!

Why all the hype is about how a 4 year old dresses? I It makes her unique, independent, and beats to her own drum. Parents should pick and choose their battles..and pay attention to what's important! And, how their young child dresses, sure as hell aint all that important.
For the genius who said how she dresses is going to turn her into a lesbian? Damn, have you got a lot to learn....how ignorant could you be? Am stunned at the stupidity, and ignorance of some of the comments........she's 4!!!
When my daughter was 4, she had a wardrobe that was incredible. I shopped at the best stores in Manhattan, and spent a fortune! Yet, she was addicted to a Minnie Mouse dress that she wore practically every day for an entire school year!!!! There wasn't a damn thing I could do about it....nor did I try. In the scheme of every day problems, it just wasn't that big a deal. For the next 12 years she went to private school, and was in a uniform. Now, 16 years later, she is a clothes horse, well-rounded, NOT a lesbian, (engaged), well educated, great job, and a gorgeous girl. (Home for summer...and forgot what a slob she could be, LOL) My point.....I hardly think wearing the same dress for almost a year had an effect on her!! And, we still have the dress.
