Whether they were pinned into loose updos or left to flounce about the shoulders, it was waves galore when it came to celebrity tresses at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards.

The textured look seems only fitting given the beachy, surfer vibe of the show.

Leading the way was Sandra Bullock, who debuted a new haircut featuring long, face-framing bangs paired with beachy waves as she appeared onstage to accept the Choice Movie Actress: Drama award.

Ashley Greene, who was sporting a more heavily highlighted mane than we've seen before, is a great example of the trend, leaving her locks long and loose with a hint of texture, while Lea Michele, who admits her hair is naturally quite curly, went a bit more bold with thick and lustrous tresses.

For those gals who wanted to keep their strands out of their face while they strutted their stuff on the sunny and sweltering red carpet, the loose chignon dominated with the younger set, like "Modern Family's" Sarah Hyland and "Secret Life of the American Teenager's" Shailene Woodley.

Of course there are some starlets who simply just couldn't let go of the straightening iron, like Kim Kardashian who flaunted a slick ponytail that was pulled tightly atop her head. "Chuck's" Yvonne Strahovski must have been on the same memo because she was spotted with a similar look, while Emma Roberts also kept her strands sleek, but pulled into a modest half updo.

As for the face, shimmery eye makeup reigned supreme, often with bronze or gold shadows mixed with jewel tones like purple or even teal. However, not to be outdone, the ever popular smoky eye was still a celeb favorite and everyone, and we mean everyone, had lashes to die for.

To balance out the strong eyes, lips were kept fairly simple and neutral in pretty pinks, most often matte with just a hint of gloss.

"Vampire Diaries" star Katerina Graham was the standout who bucked that trend, opting for a bright hot pink lip and more natural looking lids, although she did accessorize with some small stick-on gems just below the outer edge of her brows to emphasize the eighties style she was clearly trying to achieve.
