Jessica Simpson Talks Jeans, Curves, and Brigitte Bardot
"I am wearing the Sunset Bootleg in this photo," Simpson told StyleList. "I love a good bootcut because it elongates the leg." Photo courtesy of Jessica Simpson
The busy singer turned fashion mogul took a few minutes to chat with StyleList about her denim designs, available at Macy's and on her official website.
StyleList: Who is your personal style icon?
Jessica Simpson: Brigitte Bardot is my favorite beauty in the world. Her beauty and style are so iconic, and naturally sexy.
SL: What brand was the very first pair of jeans you owned?
JS: Being from Texas, I think it had to be a pair of classic Levi's.
SL: Do you actually wear the jeans from your collection? What has been the response from your friends and family?
JS: Of course, I wear the jeans -- I love them! My favorite styles are the Malibu skinny and the Sunset bootleg [Simpson is wearing the latter in photo] – they make your legs look so long. What is great about these jeans is that there are no age boundaries... even my mom and her friends wear them!
SL: The silhouettes are kind of skinny -- what are girls with curves to do?
JS: Our four core fits are skinny, jegging, bootleg, and flare, so there's a fit for every body. All of the denim fabric has stretch, so they are super comfortable too.
SL: What's the next category you want to expand into, and what's next personally?
JS: We are busy this fall launching jeans wear, plus, my latest fragrance, Fancy Nights, hits stores this month. I have some exciting projects in the works, personally. I love each facet of my career and every area brings me something new to discover.
