Could papaya be the next big superfruit?

While it wouldn't be news to tropical countries like Hawaii who have long enjoyed the fleshy sweet fruit as an energizing treat, the launch of Dr. Susan Evans' line of papaya-based skincare is bringing the black-seeded orange melon to the forefront of skin care.

Alongside her Beverly Hills plastic surgeon husband, Dr. Brian Evans, the flawlessly-complexioned dermatologist says the two have a long history of using papaya to treat patients.

"We've used papaya in the operating room on burn victims to help repair their skin," Dr. Evans tells StyleList. "Because I'm a dermatologist and my husband is a plastic surgeon, we're constantly going back and forth about surgery versus skincare, but these products are something even he is convinced of."

The full line of skincare products contain additional ingredients like licorice and bearberry extract for brightening, green tea and grapeseed extract for antioxidant protection, and resveratrol and AHA's for their potent anti-aging powers.

With features on The Dr. Oz Show, Dr. 90210 and an appearance as Oprah's science in beauty expert, we're betting the products add up. ProActiv maker Guthy-Renker partnered with Dr. Evans to formulate the line.

And Dr. Evans received a special request from HSN, who will carry the brand: They're all about creams that instantly lift for the dramatic visual effect they show on camera.

"It pushed me out of my comfort zone to work with a tensing ingredient, but I ended up loving the results. I added oat kernel extract and antioxidant peptides to produce that tightening effect in several of the products, like the neck cream and serum," says Dr. Evans.

The line will debut on HSN on August 25th and 26th, and will retail between $19.98 and $39.08 -- yet another aspect that pushed the mother of four out of her comfort zone.

"I didn't realize the products would be priced like that when I was formulating them and adding in all these luxury ingredients, but HSN really likes to take the Beverly Hills experience to the everyday woman, and I can appreciate that," says Dr. Evans.

We sure appreciate it, too.

Speaking of HSN, find out which famous singer just broke a record on the home shopping network.
