Jessica Alba, Kate Moss Have Perfect Waist-to-Hip Ratio for Attracting Men, Researcher Claims

Bust out the measuring tape!

A New Zealand anthropologist has determined the perfect female waist-to-hip ratio for getting instant sexual attraction from men, the Daily Mail reports.

Researcher Barnaby Dixson has concluded that having a .7 waist-to-hip ratio, or a waist measurement that is 70 percent of the hip circumference, will help ladies lure the fellas, according to the paper.

Exhibits A, B, and C: Kate Moss, Jessica Alba, Marilyn Monroe, and model Alessandra Ambrosio, who all reportedly boast the desirable body.

"It is likely that perfect 0.7 ratio sends a biological signal to men that that woman is most fertile and most likely to produce a healthy offspring, no matter what size that woman is," Dixson explained on Australian TV, echoing a similar report that found that men are hardwired to find curvy female figures attractive.

"It is all about the distribution of fat, which is directly linked to fertility."

Greaaaat. Guess it's back to the stomach crunches for us.

Dixson also found that women are, on the whole, more attracted to men with a long, lean, and "slightly more effeminate" figure because we assume that they are more caring and gentle, the paper reports. (Oh, and guys? Wear something red.)

Additionally, both sexes reportedly tend to be attracted to others with the same level of attractiveness.

"Women and men with those traits we consider biologically perfect will consistently attract the most high-quality partner," Dixson said.

"Humans simply do not mate randomly; it is very time consuming... to pick a life partner."

No s--t, Sherlock! But we suppose we can at least stop wasting our time trying to score David Beckham's phone number.

Meanwhile, a recent study found British women are attracted to hairy men.

For that perfect wasit-to-hip ratio, wear Little in the Middle jeans. They fit great and eliminate the gap in the back. http://www.littleinthemiddle.com.

Yes, she does look great which is because she works hard at it. Some women such as that Hussein Obama's old lady needs to get advice from these women who really look perfect. I hate it when Michele walks around with those corset strap bulges showing through her terrible looking dresses or slacks. With the millions of American dollars Obama and Michele are throwing away on rediculous vacations where they are not wanted, such as in Marthas Vineyard, they would spend some of the money to dress properly. Their family in Kenya dresses better than they do.

Wow...what ignorant intellegance you have. You must lead a miserable life to talk about anyone the way you do. It is that kind of stupidity that will never ever get you anywhere in life. Since you have a limited mind....do you know or have you heard of Karma? What you put out is only what you will get back. I take it that no matter what anyone says to you that you will continue on this downward spiral of existance. Once you decide you are not getting anywhere in life with this type of thinking then maybe your life will start to turn around. I truly hope so for your sake.

Ha, ha...like men really care about "waist to hip" ratio. I'm sure that's what her boyfriend thought when he decided to impregnate her...

Men (and women) are animals. Physical attraction is based on deeply-rooted animal instincts. We're all ruled by things we're not consciously aware of, like this ratio. Also, shiny hair and glowing skin are signs of a good breeder; strong men will be able to protect the children. Most humans get past these basic instincts and pick mates based on personality. But this goes back to cave-man times and is hardwired into everyone's brains.

So are the men these days supposed to walk around with tape measures to find out the perfect waist to hip ratio? Come on now. It seems you people are obsessed with the perfect shape. Well it's what's inside that counts. Note to Rita.......lay off the President and his wife; we're talking stars and celebrities. Besides there's nothing wrong with the way they dress. Incidentally, the spelling of the word is "ridiculous" and not with an "e."

I am 64 years old... Just mentioned for a time line...
The perfect woman's body has been stated as :::

Bust Size - X
Waist Size - X minus 10
Hip Size - X plus 1

Examples ::: 36-26-37 or 34-24-35, etc.

36-24-36 - The Monroe - corseted hourglass was just fantasy

You're right, they are changing! I'm 16yrs younger than you and prefer different measurements. Attractive non-athletic is 32 to 34D - 22 to 24 - 32 to 33. Athletic 34C - 24 - 32. Just please no huge breasts, especially when it's primarily because of having extra weight. There isn't much more disgusting than a woman bragging about large breasts when it's because they are overweight. There are plenty of guys (me included) that don't want huge breasts. If they are natural, the woman is in shape and has a great personality. I will treat them the same as extra small breasts, it's the personality that makes the person.

Charles, you say you're disagreeing with Skip, but all the measurements you said go with the math he said. The way bra size works is that the number (such as 36 or 34) is the actual measurement in inches of the bust, and the cup size (such as B or C) is the different between the measurement of the bust and the underbust.

Stomach crunches? The writer obviously didn't get what she was writing about. A woman with 50-inch hips and a 35-inch waist would fit this as well as Jessica Alba. It's a body type you're born with, there's not a lot you can do achieve it.

I completely disagree. A lot of women are running around with loads and loads of extra fat in essence hiding a potentially perfect figure. The opposite is true for sticks with hair that people like to call fashion models...put on a little weight and BINGO they've got the makings of a perfect figure.

Not all women put on weight or take of weight equally yet if most lost enough or gained enough they would eventually reveal an actual waist instead of just rolls of fat or skeletal ribs. A lot of women start of with curves and then lose those God-given curves by excessively eating their weight in junk, high fat and high carb foods and if the scrawny girls would lay off the diet coke and cigarettes and eat properly they just might discover they have a perfect figure too.

*disclaimer - these comments were not intended to include any persons who have an actual physical medical condition that through the condition itself or medications for that condition cause weight gain or loss.

In each of our brains, we have a picture of what the ideal body is for a female, or male. That is what physically turns us on. Humans settle for less than ideal all of the time, for one reason, or another. We fall in love with people based on more than just physical attraction. For example: I would die to be with a woman that looked like Selma Hayek, but I, myself am not attractive enough to be in that league. So, I found a fairly pretty woman, who had other characteristics that were enduring to me, and I fell in love. That doesn't change my physical ideal, I just dealt with reality. Have you ever seen two morbidly obese people together? Do you really think they are into physical attraction? They're sick, and that's not normal. It's good and normal to want to look as sexy, and good looking as possible. It feeds your sex drive.

James- You're referring to your attraction and marriage to your "fairly pretty" wife as comparable to two morbidly obese people, because she doesnt look like Salma Hayek?!? What a narrow way to view your life. I mean to call it settling isnt exactly what it is. If Salma was a pig to you, and you still married her because of her attractive body, you'd still be "Settling".

The thing about physical attraction is we assume that shiny hair and big hips or muscles and and a chiseled chin are the only contributing factors to attraction and how our ancestors mated and learned to mate. This simply isn't so. Personality characteristics are at much to blame for evolution as the luck of the draw in the gene pool. More positive, happy people are idealistically better to mate with as they create offspring who are genetically more predisposed to happiness than a person who is susceptible to depression. It's just as much genetically in us to pick non-physical traits as it is to pick physical ones.

However, everyone mates. Depressed people have children. Unattractive people have children. People who aren't wealthy have children. People who dont have the perfect waist to hip ratio have children. People who are horrible with money have kids. People who do drugs or abuse their mates and others still have kids. Sexuality is complex and isnt as narrowed as people like to think. You can be turned on by more than just people who resemble ALba, or Brooklyn Decker, or Brad Pitt. Looks. i'd say, are less than half the deciding factor.

I'm 34-24-35, I've gotten many compliments from men and women on my body shape. They love my curvy hips and small waist especially. I used to hate my wide hips when I was growing up , but now I love them because when I wear a skirt or a dress, it looks very feminine and sexy.
