Michelle Obama Wears Bold Multi-Print Tunic Dress to Dinner on Martha's Vineyard

Who says you can't have it all?

For a dinner on Martha's Vineyard earlier this week, Michelle Obama opted for a questionable tunic "collage dress" -- designed by London-based Nigerian Duro Olowu -- that had a little bit of everything to it: a purple and white collar, leafy green sleeves, a black and white pin-dot torso, and a purple and green floral hem.

The regal first lady paired the bold, multi-print dress with black leggings, gold earrings and bracelets, a clutch, and what look to be metallic flats, reports the Huffington Post.

For her appearance, Mrs. O wore a dot ensemble by Jason Wu. She accessorized the black dot top and matching pleated skirt with a simple stack of diamond bangles and black belt to give the outfit some shape.

Style Evolution: Michelle Obama

Her husband, President Barack Obama, kept things a little more low-key, sporting a blue-and-white-striped shirt, a navy jacket, khakis with a simple brown belt, and brown shoes.

As the Huffington Post points out, Mrs. Obama's ensemble added a bit of brightness to the Vineyard, which has had a spell of dreary and damp weather.

But was her tunic too much? Let us know in a comment.

Good gawd, who writes these pieces?? Has Michelle Obama ever looked worse? There is a way to mix prints, fabrics and so on, but this isn't that way. "Style icon"??? Puh-leez... This woman wouldn't know style if it walked up to her on the street and slapped her in the face.

It just goes to show you that you can't fix ugly. I dont understand why the media insists on trying to make the sheeple think moochelle is somehow a top beautiful woman. I mean, LOOK at her. Damn, she looks like Ray Lewis in drag. Physically, she is extremely unattractive. I guess I just am not seeing it.

I read all the comments and I am blown away with all your negatives. Michelle is the First Lady and although her choice of dress is definitely out of my financial league and taste, I give her credit for dressing for herself not for the public. I don't look at her and see a "beautiful" looking woman, but she does well in making herself look as attractive as she can and she can because she can afford it. She is comfortable in her own skin and radiates a confidence that I admire in any woman. Remember, she is always in the public eye and will always be someone that everyone is looking at so there will always be pros and cons. Does she care what we think of her fashion choices? No and to be honest, she shouldn't be. Not everything we choose to wear at whatever function we may be have to be under scutiny will be the object of perfection or as some put it the "cat's eye" but we should dress for ourselves and those we love such as our family foremost. She certainly doesn't embarrass her husband who is our President of the free world, so give her her dignity and respect her for her, his wife. By the way, I am a white woman and sometimes perhaps we should look deep into our souls and hearts and find the beauty in all of us. God doesn't care what we look like, how much money we have or how we dress up or down, He loves us just the way we are. You don't have to love her, but truly, as good Americans we should support and honor her with our respect. She is a very good woman and a role model to many. Most of all, she loves her family and that in itself is wonderful!

It's not like Michelle is a waif-like, flowing haired, pale girl that you see in Free People ads (the only type that could actually get away with this ensemble, tights and all, in mid-summer on the Vineyard).... I am embarrassed at her representation of America's First Lady.

talk negatively about others. michelle may not be the prettiest woman but i bet she can run rings around you and all your 'posse' with her personality and intelligence,
which you are showing that you have neither

I would certainly hope she would not look like Jackie Kennedy. She(jackie) looked STUFFY in the conservative clothes she wore, Mrs. Obama would look a little crazy if she dressed like Jackie Kennedy. Mrs. Obama is her own person(thank God) and she dresses to suit herself and her husband. I am sure she doesn't give a good GodDamn about what you think about her. When you become the first lady then you can dress stuffy like Jackie Kennedy! Unlike you she is her own person and is not moved by what U think!
