Sticking with its wish to be the provider of a seven-day-a-week wardrobe, the retailer that has become the go-to for jeans is applying that mentality to black pants for its new Premium Black Pant collection.
"Our customers now know that they can trust us to deliver perfect-fit jeans," Gap executive vice president of design Patrick Robinson tells StyleList.
"This year we wanted to expand that idea, recognizing that our customers need wardrobe solutions for all the different occasions in modern life."
Available in seven(!) styles – Really Skinny, Boyfit, Slim Cropped, Perfect Trouser, Modern Boot, Curvy, and True Straight -- Gap has taken what it learned in perfecting its jeans' fits and applied that to trousers.
All of the pants have defined waistbands and come in tactile fabrics that have stretch to create that fluid (read slimming) look every woman aspires to.
"We've used elevated fabrics and elegant silhouettes and considered every detail to create a collection of stylish, elegant, and leg-lengthening shapes that will take our customers through seven days a week, no matter the time or place," Robinson tells us.
"The great thing about these trousers is they are easy to dress up or down. Take the relaxed cropped -- a great, versatile silhouette, sitting just below the waist, relaxed through the thigh, and tapered at the ankle."
But if you can have only one pair, Robinson recommends the Boyfit trouser. "It has a feeling of a vintage men's pant, with a hip-slung fit and slightly dropped crotch. It's cool and effortless."
And who doesn't want to be cool and effortless?
