A chill descended on New York this week, jump-starting some serious fall wardrobe daydreaming (and maybe, just maybe a splurge or two). There are so many styles that we're excited to try out: ladylike silhouettes, painterly prints, collegiate cool clogs and legwear. But we're also looking forward to the return of two of our favorite colors: red and camel. So for this installment of The Weekender, we've put together an outfit that will take you from late summer to fall in bold style.

Style tips:

• Dress: Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and numerous other designers all played with red for fall. From oxblood to crimson, this stand-up-and-get-noticed hue plays well on the ladylike dresses that we saw on the runway. This BCBG Generation dress looks way more luxe than its $118 price tag with petal cap sleeves, a classic sheath silhouette and a little rocker touch with the asymmetrical zipper detailing.
• Shoes: Peep-toe shoes continue to be a big trend. You can wear these Michael Kors platforms now and then add chunky knit tights when fall sets in.
• Bag: Rebecca Minkoff's handbags just keep getting more and more popular. And for good reason. The high-quality leather bags tend to mix classic shapes with edgy details. We like the way the way this vintage alligator clutch has a ladylike shape with edgy chain detailing.
• On top: A lot of people are afraid to wear red because it can be a difficult color to style. Although black is a go-to pairing, we love the idea of going with a more unexpected neutral like camel. You can try the combo out with a light cardigan now and then move on to a wool overcoat or trench once the temperature drops.
