For a real-life view, Neil Patrick Harris is set to host on CBS's televised FNO special dubbed "Fashion's Night 2010". (Read more about the program, airing Sept. 14, here.)
Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch and Justin Timberlake are also slated to make appearances on the one-hour behind-the-scenes look at Anna Wintour and her crew organizing the big shopping event.
If you prefer your fashion handed to you with additional gloss, Fashion's Night Out will be the subject of not one, but two episodes of the uber-stylish Gossip Girl, airing on Sept.13 (the season premiere!) and Sept. 27.
In a behind-the-scenes sneak peak seen on Vogue.com, Blake Lively explains that the episodes will revolve around her character Serena confronting Leighton Meester's character Blair at a FNO party in New York's Meatpacking District.
In the clip, we see Lively, Meester, Ed Westwick and new cast member Clemence Posey shooting on location in Carlos Miele's futuristic shop before moving on to Diane von Furstenberg flagship. (See some stills from the shoot here.)
Gossip Girl's costume director Eric Daman also dishes a bit, explaining that he has over 150 mouth-watering dresses at his disposal for the fashion-focused episode.
If do happen to be in New York Sept. 7 (two days before the actual Fashion's Night Out, Sept. 10), and have some cash not already earmarked for clothing, American Express is inviting its cardholders to watch a live stream of Fashion's Night Out: The Show -- that's a big, big fashion show -- along with a fashion-themed panel discussion between Alexander Wang, J.Crew's Jenna Lyons and Tory Burch, with Vogue's Hamish Bowles moderating.
The talk will take place at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, with tickets ranging from $75 to $200. Reserve your seat here.
It's worth noting that Fashion's Night Out is really a nationwide event this year. You can see a state-by-state listing of official parties at malls and boutiques around the US on the official web site -- hello, St. Louis!
And of course, there will be plenty to do in the nation's fashion capital.
