THE SCOOP: Band of Outsider's Spring 2011 collection was like a stroll through Nantucket, with gauzy white summer dresses, smartly tailored shorts and classic striped prepster wear for the men. Hair and makeup followed suit, with natural styles and shades perfectly suited to an afternoon picnicking under the sun.
Models were grouped according to "girl-girl" and "girl-boy" designs, with the former wearing sunkissed cheeks, dew-kissed eyes and clear lip balm, while the latter took on an edgier look with black-rimmed eyes and liquid liner that was applied in the crease for a messy, jagged and lived-in look. "These are girls that spend their summers outdoors," said Page.
The country-like girls wore free-flowing locks with a bit of wavy texture created by setting and blow-drying braided hair, and then brushing the strands out. The edgier models were given a very low side part and a ponytail braid, which was unraveled at the last moment before stepping onto the runway, for movement and wave.
Male models looked dapper in combed-back styles of slightly wind-tousled hair, fresh from an afternoon of sailing.
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: All makeup by Shiseido. Keep skin clear of makeup, save for a touch of concealer where needed, and apply Shimmering Rouge Lipstick in Golden Dragon with a damp sponge to the cheeks, so that it blends as a cream blush. Apply Benefiance Full Correction Lip Treatment to lips and eyes for a dewy glisten, and finish with Shimmering Rouge Lipstick in the natural Lounge shade pressed onto lips. For the edgier look, add Automatic Fine Liquid Eyeliner to both lash lines, and then apply into crease. Coat top and bottom lashes in Defining Mascara in black.
GET THE LOOK - HAIR: Prep hair with Bumble and Bumble's Thickening Spray, and then blow-dry until just a little damp. Then use an elastic to pull hair back into a ponytail, and braid. Finish blowdrying the braid, allow to cool, and then take out the braid and run fingers through hair for a natural texture and style. For the edgier look, just take the braid out, but keep the ponytail in, and part the hair in a deep side part at the beginning.
