MAKEUP: Gucci Westman for Revlon
HAIR: Jimmy Paul for Bumble and Bumble
NAILS: Bernadette Thompson
SNAPSHOT: Tribal Chic Meets Urban City Girl
THE SCOOP: Ohne Titel's Spring 2011 collection combined the rustic elements of outdoor warrior wear with the sporty and sleek style of a young urbanite on the go, and the beauty look was equally fierce with statement lips and nails.
The star of the beauty look was a strong coral lip, which stood out brilliantly against a nude face. "The look is about an effortless chic but sporty girl. She's very athletic, but still feminine," Westman told StyleList. The Revlon makeup artist fell so in love with the color, that she brought it back from a previous palette for a new Fire & Ice collection launch this November. Some models were given naturally nude lips so as not to overwhelm the runway with coral lips.
Hair was swept up in a half ponytail-bun that was big on texture but minimal on effort. "It has a strong samuri feel to it, but also looks like that bun you throw together when you're headed to the gym. We wanted to make it look like you could do it yourself," Paul told StyleList.
Nails were a surprising black for spring, with a matte finish and short length that reached just a smidge over the nail bed. While Thompson warns that the shade can look gothic on pale skintones, she says anyone with some color can pull it off come warm weather. "A square shape with rounded edges and nails that are right between a short and medium length is the new way to wear black," Thompson told StyleList.
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: All makeup by Revlon. Add a soft glow to face with Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator, and apply just a touch of Cream Blush in Berry Flirtatious to warm up the complexion. Brighten the eye area with shades from the Suede Rhapsody palette, and define arches with Brow Fantasy Pencil. Apply Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren, which will be available with the Fire & Ice collection this November.
GET THE LOOK - HAIR: All products by Bumble & Bumble. Prep hair with Thickening Spray, and then blowdry volume into hair by blasting the opposite direction of roots. Finger-comb hair into a tight ponytail on the top of the head, pulling hair just half-way through for a half-bun look.
GET THE LOOK - NAILS: File nails to a length that reaches just past the nail bed, in a square shape with softly rounded edges. Apply two coats of Bernadette Thompson's Macktress, a deep black with matte finish.
