THE SCOOP: A quirky take on the eye makeup, along with updated classic touches on the hair and nails, complemented the feel of the collection.
Lam has found a kindred spirit in makeup master Tom Pecheux. "We wanted to play with color like we always do," said Pecheux. "I love working with Derek; he's really into fantasy, and I love breaking the rules." This was evident in his use of a bright reddish-orange lip pencil drawn along the upper lash line. "For fashion shows you need to make the look more powerful, and Lauder is known for making more wearable shades, so I improvised," he said.
A hint of highlighter at the inner corners of the eyes and black mascara were the finishing touches, and lips were kept neutral with a creamy finish.
Pita created a style evocative of the 1960s, but "done in an effortless way." He used volumizing spray for lift and texture and blew the hair dry, coaxing the front section forward. "It's just kind of split in the middle, so the hair hangs down over the sides of the face to frame it," he said. A little finger massage (but no teasing) at the crown added a little height and a slightly messy finish.
Jin Soon Choi kept it super simple on the nails, applying only one coat of a metallic beige-gold hue.
