Backstage at Diesel Black Gold's Spring 2011 Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week, the models exuded their distinct personalities with custom coifs that ranged from Elvis-style pompadours to leather wrapped ponytails.

THE SCOOP: Diesel Black Gold has amassed a huge following for its distressed denim, body conscious leather minis, and throw it on and go tops. And for their Spring 2011, lead hairstylist Guido Palau felt it was necessary to create characters to accentuate the sexy, Arizona desert feel designs.

"It needed to be natural hair, but a bit more made up," said Palau. "For a few of the girls, I'm teasing the hair really big, placing it into a side ponytail and tying it with leather for a sexy, Raquel Welch, desert girl feel. And some of the girls have tomboyish styles."

GET THE LOOK - HAIR: All hair products by Redken. To recreate the pompadour hairdo, prep hair with Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder and dust with powder to flatten down. Blow dry product throughout the strands. Create a deep, right side part and pin the back into a flat twist. Curl the front section of the hair with a large barrel curling iron and create a pompadour. Set the style with Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray.
