INSPIRATION: Bare summer skin and all the ways you can show it
TOP LOOKS: Floor-length one-shoulder coral dress with Grecian draping; strapless ivory-pink cocktail dress with dramatic drapes and folds; minimal white sheath dress cinched at the waist with a gold buckle belt
ACCESSORIES: Big water-drop brass pendant necklaces; strappy suede platform heels in dusty rose, coral, taupe, and black
WHO WAS THERE: Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexis Bledel, Anna Dello Russo (and her tutu and watermelon-slice hat)
WHAT WE THOUGHT: Although Halston's designer, Marios Schwab, departed from disco-fever wear last season, the iconic '70s brand's signature sentiment was back for Spring 2011. Split into all black, white, camel, coral, nude, and sequined sets, the overarching theme of the collection was body-conscious clothing that showed flashes of bare skin, thanks to peek-a-boo cutouts and one-shoulder silhouettes. Sequin-covered frocks came in unexpected space-age prints, while a series of fluid jersey dresses in solid colors -- bright coral, sweet ivory-pink, black and white -- came alive with involved drapes and folds that made them our runaway favorites.
