DESIGNER: Oscar de la Renta

INSPIRATION: 1950's high glamour dance parties and doo-wop

WHO: Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Zoe (and her husband Roger, and her assistant, Brad Goreski), lensman; Craig McDean and Patrick Demarchelier, pretty lady; Amanda Brooks, and a front row of Vogue--including, Andre Leon Talley, Grace Coddington and Hamish Bowles

TOP LOOKS: An ivory strapless gown embroidered with red carnations, worn with matching gloves. The same embroidery in pink on a celadon silk gown and matching bolero. Black point d'esprit full skirt ruffled gown on Coco (her first show this season?). Pink silk faille ruffle gown. Black strapless velvet dress with white "swan's down" three quarter length ball skirt (shorter in front, longer in back--proving a trend on the New York runways).

ACCESSORIES: Alligator shoes (really)--sandals mostly and satin pumps. Big jewelry, markedly, dangly jeweled earrings and a crystal pave palm tree brooch. Turquoise eye shadow and hair knotted into out size buns.

The evening wear "finale" was 20 looks long-- and so stunning, it made the traffic on Park Ave. and the ensuing monsoon style rains afterward entirely worth it. Gowns are where Oscar dominates--but it's clearly a sign of the times that the sybaritic swans will have plenty to choose from for this coming Spring social season.
