Model Falls at Burberry Spring 2011 Show

Burberry Spring 2011 model falls mega heels

Model takes a tumble on the Burberry Spring 2011 runway in London. Photo: Ben Stansall, AFP / Getty Images

Not every gasp at the Burberry Spring 2011 show was aimed at Christopher Bailey's ridiculously covetable gold-studded biker jackets.

StyleList was on the scene as the crowd -- which included Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung, Anna Wintour, and Serena Williams -- uttered a collective gasp as one of the catwalkers took a tumble right before she made it backstage.

The short-haired stunner had appeared skittish and a tad wobbly as she made her way down the runway wearing a short leopard-print minidress and a spiked leather jacket.

Sure enough, the model's towering stiletto heels caused her to hit the ground just as she was about to leave the catwalk.

At least she's not alone -- models also hit the floor at the Z Spoke by Zac Posen and Bernard Chandran shows.

And we spied another model at the show stepping out of her heels and carrying them in her hands before continuing down the catwalk... better safe than sorry!

We're just thankful none of Charlie Le Mindu's nude models tripped and fell -- things could've gotten ugly!

Meanwhile, get more London Fashion Week coverage here.

They say that it was the stiletto heels that made her fall. Are you sure it wasn't because she's probably anorexic and starved herself to get ultra-thin for this show?

THESES DESIGNERS COME UP WITH THE STUPIDEST LOOKING SHOE'S AND CLOTHES, I CAN'T BELIVE THEY SPEND GOOD MONEY TO DESIGN CRAPPY LOOKING STUFF, THEIR PARENT'S MUST BE PROUD(NOT).............

she did look really thin :( she is pretty without having to be so thin:( being a guy i don't think i could even take one step in high heels like that so i would say that yes it is the shoes. those are high high heels and would look better if they were not so high

The stilleto heels are way, way too high for any 'normal' person to even attempt to wear. The poor models shouldnot have to risk breaking an ankle just for the ego of some stupid designer. Yeah, they look great and if I was 20 again I might try it, but that was 30 years and 2 husbands ago and with age comes knowledge.

Why not just give the models stilts and let them navigate down a sheet of ice? The stiff 'crossed-foot' walk, scary make-up and the downright angry glares do NOTHING for your so-called clothes (I wouldn't dress my dog in any of this season's rags). I only pay attention when one of them takes a dive. Call me a sadist, but that's what makes a show!

thats seems to be the new "it thing" to do on the runway these days - for attention, if anyone has followed the few recent stories. falling gets you more attention the walking good. oh well

If every woman alive found every pair of heels they own over 1 inch high, and threw them in the garbage RIGHT NOW, the world would be a MUCH better place!

Not only does it make the women look ridiculous, those shoes can cause serious ankle sprains. what are people thinking? haute couture or haute injury?

lol and every man complaining about high heels is most likely 5'5. She doesn't look that thin, but it definitely was the heels. Worn stilettos, they dont make u feel to comfortable about balance. But as a model, she should be used to it.

These designers need to start realizing that fashion needs to not only look good, it needs to be practical also. Making these shoes that look like works of art are all well and good if you intend for them to be on display in a museum, but if you are planning them to be worn with your creations then you need to consider their functionality. Five and six inch heals are not really doable in the real world. The most any woman will ever wear in her lifetime will be a three inch heal and most wear either a one or two inch on a daily basis. If they want to see sales go up, then they should be styling their fashions to look well for these shorter heal heights rather than the "runway" heights.

This article has nothing to do with her weight.
Why does every single article about models, modeling, fashion, etc. turn into eating disorder judgements. I've done some modeling in my time and I'm a thin young woman, slightly curvy in my feminine areas, yet overall still very thin. And it's only because I eat three good sized HEALTHY meals every day. I do not drink soda or eat fast food, and I limit my sweets. I stick to a lot of fruits, veggies, rice, fish, tea, and stay away from bad carbs and dairy fat. I love chips and chocolate so a couple times a month I indulge myself a little because deprivation is not healthy! And no, my food does NOT come back up.
I just feel so sad that people are so judgemental!
Yes some models are too thin, but not ALL of them!
And some people just know how to eat right and don't feel tempted by unhealthy foods and enjoy excersizing and feeling healthy.
I don't look at others who have more curves than I and tell them they have and over-eating problem.
So please think about how it might hurt someone elses feelings when you call them anorexic, because it really might be more hurtful than you think it is.

A model falls...so what? it's okay, we are still here. Now, what really concerns me are the somber, almost zombie stares and that the make up designers make these models wear. Nobody smiles or looks happy or looks well nourished. This business is sick.

Gay men (not that there's anything wrong with that) are the ones who design "high fashion" clothing and shoes for women. They don't view women as sexual attractive, just as mannequins for their outrageous designs, which don't look good on anything except a 6-foot tall coat rack. Doesn't take much talent or imagination to design clothing and shoes for real women, does it?

I think the "models" want more attention, and they feel that is the way to get it.when they "fall" rush them off stage, out of program.

As former model, I don't think model want attention but it is under health . The trend is to be thin to fit into those clothes. Nothing sexual of being a model if one does not have any brains to go along with it. I was just a skeleton with clothes on my body height 5 feet 9 inches tall and weight 100 pounds.I have done modeling for many years and had a producer wanting me to try out for star search in 1986 ,to become a Sport model on the show.I was just skin in bone, would live off water and salad The model agency kept me busy with work .Was that healthy?no.
