Wednesday was officially the first day of fall, and with Fashion Week distractions behind us, we're excited to cozy up to a mug of hot cider and start unpacking our wools and flannels. In this installment of The Weekender, we've brainstormed a casual Saturday look that touches on some of fall's big fashion trends from ladylike blouses to casual capes.

Style Tips:

• Cape: Capes and ponchos found their way onto runways from Alexander Wang to Phillip Lim for Fall 2010. We love the idea of layering this cable knit cape sweater over this flowy bow-neck blouse, a nod to fall's more ladylike silhouettes.
• Pants: Although the cape sweater and blouse make for a more billowy top layer, you don't necessarily have to turn to skinny pants to balance the silhouette. Instead, we suggest going with the wider legs that we saw at shows like Zac Posen and Richard Chai Love. To avoid looking too boxy, tuck in the blouse and cinch with a skinny brown belt.
• Necklace: In a nod to the equestrian-inspired fall collections of Dior and Hermès, we've picked out this delicate horseshoe necklace by House of Harlow. The jewelry line by Nicole Richie is one of our go-to sources for reasonably priced, high-quality necklaces and bracelets.
• Bag: This structured satchel nods towards fall's military feel and has a great weathered vintage look.
