Take that, size zero!

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier gave curvy girls a major fashion shout-out by enlisting plus-size singer Beth Ditto to walk his Paris runway over the weekend.

The voluptuous Gossip crooner -- who designs a plus-size range for British retailer Evans -- opened and closed the show while modeling Gaultier's creations.

Rocking a blunt black bob and wild sci-fi-esque blue eye shadow, the size 26 star also sang an Ike and Tina Turner classic for the well-heeled crowd.

Ditto -- who once appeared on Love's cover in the nude -- isn't the only curvy beauty to hit the runway.

Plus-size supermodel Crystal Renn -- who also stars in Gaultier's Fall 2010 campaign -- hit Zac Posen's runway -- and let's not forget pregnant Miranda Kerr's turn on the Balenciaga catwalk.

So, is this just a passing fad, or is the fashion world finally ready to embrace full-figured beauty? Guess we'll find out next season.

Meanwhile, Fashion Week has also put senior citizen models front and center.

i'm all about being curvy, but i don't think that's the appropriate adjective here. she looks like a bottle of damiana. i think she could have pulled off a different piece, but these particular outfits don't hang well and look like they were intended for someone much smaller. the close cropped hair and wild makeup just add to the tight, constricting vibe. i guess she just doesn't look comfortable to me - confident maybe, but not physically comfortable - and it comes across.

You are so right. Those outfits would look ridiculous on Tyra Banks or Kate Moss or Heidi Klum, (keep the list running). What's the point of highlighting the plus-sized model and then making her look like an idiot?

I agree completely, Courtney. The first thing I thought when I saw the pics was "poor girl" because the hair is wrong, the outfits are wrong and all they emphasize is her size, not her beauty.

Yeah - this was not her look. I think the right designer could have done much better.

Bravo to her for going out there!

And you're an opinionated LOSER like your opinionated jerk buddy that you agree with!
Too bad that while people are finally coming to accept that humans were created in different colors and genders, we were also created in different sizes! How hard is that to grasp? Yes, plenty of people don't do anything to help themselves, but plenty of us work our tails off and STILL we're considered FAT! It's just another way that all the HATERS out there get their jollies. They think they are so much better than everyone else.

voluptuous?? full figured??? uhhhh I think the word they're looking for is morbidly obese. They can dress her any way they like to make being obese acceptable, but the fact remains obesity is not a good thing.

Ok I am plus sized and those outfits and make up did not enhance her. The one with the draping was hideous, and the black skirt if it were a tad bit longer even with that horrible poofy top it would have been an improvement. They did not even change her makeup; it was beyond drag queen looking. The shoes were the only thing that looked good and her pretty face! Oye! With both outfit they did not accessorize (no jewelry she needed long fashionable earring and perhaps a nice necklace and bracelets for the black outfit, and please someone fix her hair. Did this woman have any say on what they were going to have her wear? This could be a picture for an adversment deterring women from gaining weight; worked for me I am officially on a diet!

I completely agree. And it doesn't help, in my opinion, that she's smiling so hugely. It looks like she's thinking "Get a load of me, ma! I'm on a runway!" I'm not saying all models have to look depressed, but geez. She doesn't look high-fashion AT ALL here. Some one should have told her how to move and use her face like a model. Then she could've owned that runway.

I agree with just about everything you said. But, accessories??? Why would she want to add anything to that mess of clothing and make-up? She looks like an ad. for a Halloween Costume store.

Ok..Ok..Ok... I am not petite and there are plenty of sizes between 0 and 24. Holy crap, this looks horrific. This does not look like fashion, it looks like Halloween. A different look would have been sooooo much better. This does the plus size no justice what-so-ever. Something else could have pulled off the fun and a little crazy look, but this was not it.

I've seen some far out designs, but this takes the cake. This is down right horrific. Kinda fits the season. Does anyone actually wear this trash?
