DESIGNER: Mulberry

INSPIRATION: Blooming roses and playful romance from the film "Grey Gardens" – based on the dysfunction, yet at once dreamy, life of Jackie Kennedy's cousin Edie Beale and her mother - as well as the novel "The Secret Garden"

TOP LOOKS: There was a lot of play with proportions and a lowering of the hem line, not to the knee or ankle, but mid calf; belted jackets and cinched skirts added romance while loose trousers, earthy hues, and silk and suede fabrics could easily play into the season's story of the '70s seductress.

ACCESSORIES: Can we talk about the shoes? This season, the brand decided to edit down footwear offerings to a bootie, wedge and sandal in what's being called the "D-Ring Wrap" collection – walnut out sole and d-ring hardware on a suede, silky-snake print, sparkle tweed or washed denim body. And for bags, the Alexa group comes back with a new shape – the camera bag for those casual, paired-down days – and innovative new textures like the Bengal Tiger Haircalf with metallic leopard and glossy snake embossed accents. From a golden minaudiere to a supersized tote, bagistas will find what they need from Mulberry come spring.

WHO WAS THERE:
Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo, Gemma Arteton and Florence Welch

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Romance and charm with a wink are the hallmark of Mulberry and for spring 2011, die-hard fans will have one must-have purchase after another. (And if they can't afford the steep price tag, a collaboration with Target will hit the shelves very soon!)

Sure fire hits will be the D-ring wrap sandal, easy-to-wear trousers, and gathered skirts. The color palette seemed to take the pages of floral evolution thru the spring time – from earthy beige and creamy white, to apricot, orchid pink, and electric blue, and finally deep plum and midnight blue.

Overall, the collection presented all the pieces a luxury-loving, Mulberry gal will crave for her personal and professional functions – trousers and a flowerbed t-shirt for work; shorts and belted blazer for weekend warrior needs; and an all over bows dress made from silk crepe for garden parties.
