Breast Cancer Awareness 2010

Although camel is this season's trendiest hue, this month the most stylish color in your wardrobe should certainly be pink.

October is breast cancer awareness month which gives retailers a chance to sell some cool new items that support research and outreach about the disease. It also allows designers an opportunity to come up with some very collectible pieces - such as Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony polo shirts.

Given that accessories are always a fine way to dress up an outfit, we are presenting some of the best that there is to offer this month. Stay chic with a Tommy Hilfiger tote (designed by Milla Jovovich), or a sweet bauble bracelet by Chico's. Really, you can't go wrong with any of these items as they all support such an important cause.

Peruse our gallery and then don't forget to pick up some pink beauty products too!

Wake up and read the facts. You are obviously in denial of the problem wtih everyday chemicals. I have been reseraching this area for over 28 years, since Mom died of cancer in 1982, at age 56. I am a cancer survivor myself and Director of the Cancer Prevention Coalition for Los Angeles. REad facts and information at Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, Environmenalt working Group, NotJustaPrettyFace, preventcancer.com, publicsright2know.org

I have no problem with bringing awareness to Breast Cancer, but, it seems to over shadoe ALL other cancers. My daughter is a 5 year cancer SURVIVOR of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. There is VERY LITTLE awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness. How many of you know the the ribbon color for Childhood Cancer Awareness WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP? Everywhere we go, Walmart, Target, Sears, ETC...pushes brands for breast cancer awareness, righgt down to cereals, schools supplies & TOYS! Who is the majority that uses these items? Mostly CHILDREN eat those cereals, CHILDREN use those school supplies, and CHILDREN play with those toys. How many of you know what month is CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH, without looking it up? My point exactly! Probablky not many!

My daughter was diagnosed 2 weeks before her 3rd Birthday, this November 18th she will be 8 years old and on November 29th she will be in REMISSION and CANCER FREE for 5 years! I am so grateful to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for saving her life! Her Leukemia was a very aggressive blood cancer and she ONLY had a 40% chance of surviving it. Thankfully, all she had to have was chemotherapy for 5 months, with the first round kicking it's butt! But...alot of the kids with this leukemia have to have chemo, radiation & a grueling bone marrow transplant. These transplants do not come without comlications. For instance, there is a young man from our area that went to St. Jude with the same diagnosis as my daughter. He did not respond to treatment so he had to have a transplant. He is constantly having to deal with the after effects, such as GVHD (graft versus host disease) and he recently had to have surgery on his knee because of all the radiation and steroids that were used to save his life. You can follow him at www.caringbridge.org/visit/trevorvampran to keep up with his progress.

PLEASE HELP BRING AWAWRENESS!! Children get CANCER TOO! I also belong to a Facebook page that is trying very hard to get Oprah to do a show dedicated to Childhood Cancer Awareness. Look it up and join, SPREAD THE WORD!!

One more thing...This NOVEMBER, Marlo Thomas will kick off the annual Thanks & Giving Campaign for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Please look into it and HELP! Shop at any stores that have the BRIGHT GREEN magnifying glass in their stores. One I know that most of us go to is Dollar General Stores. Also, thios month there are "St. Jude Pick-A-Pumpkin". They are usually at the checkout counters and you have the option to add them to your grocery order and make a donation for just $1 or as much as you would like, then you put your name on the card and they hang it up in the store. Every little bit helps!!

My Heart goes out to ALL people touched by Cancer, no matter what type. This is in NO WAY an attack on Breast Cancer. I just feel that it gets more recognition than any other, and we need awareness on ALL cancers. If you or someone in your family or close friend have been touched by a paticular cancer, I URGE you to start PUSHING AWARENESS! Make YOUR voice be heard! I also have Multiple Sclerosis, diagnosed March 2010, But, I choose to PUSH Childhoos Cancer Awareness...because...The Children Are Our FUTURE! One of these survivors of childhood cancer, because of their fight & survival may one day FIND the CURE...Lets make sure they have that CHANCE!!

I am a cancer survivor, but lost Mom to cancer at age 56, after she had worked for toxic Revlon cosmetics putting toxic cosmetics on women across the US for 20 years. I found out about the chemicals in everyday products and was totally shocked that the government does not protect consumers. there have been no new laws on any of our products since 1938, yet thousands of chemicals have been added to products we put in and on our bodies and use in our homes every day. Wake up and knwo where your pink dollars are going, thinkbeforeyoupink.org, Is the money going into the big pharma or cosmetic industry pockets? PROBABLy. Look for any information on chemicals in products on American Cancer society, Susan Komen, Breast Cancer Fondation, and you will find NOTHING, because they are supported by this very industry that is producting the carcinogens we all need to avoid, especially children. Read campaignforsafecosmetics, preventcancer.com, publicsright2know.org, environmental working group, notjustaprettyface.org. change to healthy products, and lose the nasty ones from Avon, Revlon, Estee Lauder, ARbonne (yes they still have carcingoens in their products). Try Neways Int, a 25 year manufacturer of safe products, you have everything to gain with your health, and everything to lose with carcingoens and harmful ingredients. positivehealthyliving.ineways.com
