Girl Scouts and Dove Launch Dove Self-Esteem Weekend

The events are part of the Dove Movement for Self-Esteem that encourages women and girls to create a world in which beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. Katie Couric, Abigail Breslin, Lea Michele, and Dove Movement for Self-Esteem Youth Ambassador, Katherine Schwarzenegger, are just a few of the women who will share messages of inspiration with participants.
The program encourages women to spend one hour on a self-esteem building activity with a girl in their lives over the course of the weekend, helping her develop a positive relationship with beauty. Participants can register their weekend activities on the interactive map on dovemovement.com. The map will serve as a visual representation of support for this cause, and can also be used to locate activities open to the public.
Sounds like the perfect opportunity to grab your niece, little sister or cousin and take her for a mini-spa treatment or take a hike, or just hang out for an hour and share some stories with each other!
It's perfect timing, in light of all the horrible bullying that's come to light of late.

I think this is such a great idea! A weekend focused on a positive self esteem. Girl Scouts of America and Dove partnered together is so inspiring. It is a great way to spread the word on how important a healthy self esteem is to our young girls and their future. The choices they make, the friendships they develop, and the men they will date, are all influenced by what type of self esteem they start with. If every town, every girl scout group, across America participated in these self esteem workshops/weekends, just think of how many girls would be affected in such a positive way. Spread the word. There needs to be more advertising and more coverage in the news on the good and inspiring things that are going on in our communities and in our country instead of always focusing on the negative aspects.Keep up the great work!
