Now that's what we call some fierce competition.
A transsexual (triple-word) scored the title of UK Scrabble champion this weekend while donning a Katy Perry-esque candy-pink wig, fishnet gloves, and lace-trimmed PVC dress, BBC News reports.
The wild wordsmith is 32-year-old Mikki Nicholson of Carlisle, Cumbria, who proudly showed off her trophy and her all-pink getup after gaining 86 points for the word "obeisant," according to the news agency.
(Put down your dictionaries. It means "obedient.")
The colorful champ also used the word "nads" on her path to victory, the Sun reports. What is this, Dirty Scrabble?
Even more impressive: Nicholson beat out Scrabble world champ Mark Nyman to win the £1,500 prize, which she reportedly plans to spend on a trip to Malaysia for another Scrabble competition.
"It was a big challenge, but I wouldn't have entered if I didn't think I had a chance of winning," Nicholson told the BBC.
"I'm thrilled to have won, and I can't wait to celebrate."
A Scrabble spokeswoman added, "Scrabble is a game for anyone to enjoy, loved by generations of families, men and women, and anyone."
Somebody hand us some tiles. Between the four-letter words and the pink wigs, this definitely sounds like our kind of game.
